Title: NT4.0 and 3D cards...any advice?!!
Post by: mason22 on February 29, 2000, 10:13:00 AM
we have an NT network in my office here, running NT4.0 on the workstations. some have SP 5.0 some have SP 4.0. and further more some have AGP slots and some have PCI slots. The question i am asking: what would be the best 3D card for both the AGP slot, and for the PCI slot. is anyone running NT4.0 and playing AH? we have a few avid flyers who would love to get AH on our network here!!!!

makes for great team play in an arena!

thanks for any and all advice/help.

I don't think AH will run on NT.  To my knowledge, NT only supports DX5.

NT 4.0 with the latest service packs only supports DX3.0.  Blech. :/

Pure OpenGL stuff like Quake will run on NT, since NT has had OpenGL from the start.  More recent DirectX coded stuff usually won't run properly though.  Even if the game actually ran in NT, good luck getting a joystick to work.

The first service pack for Win2K is supposed to upgrade the NT Codebase to DX8 or whatever... but I've heard THAT one before. :/

And she took a round coming 'cross the Channel last trip
I was thinking 'bout my baby and lettin' her rip
Always got me through so far
Well they can ship me all over this great big world
But I'll never find nothing like my North End girl
I'm taking her home with me one day, sir
Soon as we win this war"
