That's all I got. Just wanted to share that I really miss those big nasty furball *itch fests over that little lake with all the PT boats =)

I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't miss them at all.  I like the 'strategy' component of the game, taking bases and whatnot.

Tanktown seems to suck players away from this aspect of play, so did fightertown.

On the other hand, lots of players just enjoy that part of the game, so who am I to say.

Second thought, yes I miss it on behalf of those who miss it.:D

It shows up every so often between a couple of bases.  Never lasts too long, but generally just long enough to remind you there used to be a Fighter Town :)

I am a Strat Guy too... but still miss FT. When that map was up, I used to begin each AH session with 30mins in FT before wandering off to more "important" battles.Or went there when in desperate need of perks. Just as I still do in TT now.

So what you are trying to say is that people doing what they found/find to be fun ... sucked people away from what you find to be fun ? ... they need to be doing what you find fun to make your experience(s) better, but the heck with what they find fun ?

I still, to this very day, have a hard time comprehending that logic.

whew slapshot....so clever, such deduction.  take it out of context, read half the thread then argue against what fits your interpretation.

There is a dueling arena, if all you want is furballs why not just play there.  What's the point in having a map at all if it's just dueling?

you can count me in with those who miss fightertown.  some days I like playing the strat game and want to immerse myself in the sim, taking the time to get to a decent altitude and trying my best to stay "alive", and some days I just want to dogfight.  Nowadays, if I've only got an hour or so I tend to find a capped field to up at, or a cv that's close to an nme base.  I die a lot, but it's fun.  would love to have fightertown again though, or better yet a furball arena...  :-D

I read the whole post ... The first part is probably your true feelings ... the second part is to not ruffle feathers or an attempt to smooth it over ... if that is not true, then you probably should have just aborted the whole post.

I have written such posts too ... and have hit the "back" button instead of the "Submit Reply" button after a second thought.

There are others that feel that same way as you have pointed out and I am always baffled by such a statement ... wasn't necessarily pointing the finger at just you ... you just happened to be the messenger this time.

No harm ... no foul DRED ... <>

I would to see FT again too.... in its own arena, not on the MA maps. That never worked in AW and hasn't worked in AH very at all.

But some of the best times I had in AW was in the FT arena!

Thankfully no P38Gs were hurt in the making of your film :)

Good stuff in that Hurri I.  Scary the number of Spits falling down in pieces.

I did what you used to do Lusche. When FT map was running, I'd furball for a little while and then move on to other things. Sometimes I wouldnt move on. I miss it.

na what he is saying is all parts of this game *should* be able to fight/have fun in the same area... and we shouldnt be split into TT,FT,BT etc.... ;)

Yeah I miss it too, great place to learn to fight and defend your tail at the same time.

Would love to see it back.

I would like to see a fighter town arena as well.  Seems like we have a bunch of other arena's, why not a fighter town?  I firmly believe it would not 'rob' the MA of its player base.  I think it would create an new generation of better fighter pilots.   Which reminds me, with the new ack updates I need to try out a new "Fightertown" map on a H2H server.

Malta

I greatly miss FT, too, gents... it was a great place to hone your skill, especially your SA and gunnery, if you wanted to survive you had to have lots of eyes looking everywhere and to kill in the quickest way your target (no, I don't HO on purpose! :D), it was great fun, even when you got shot down. It wasn't so every time, there were moments when the fights were frustrating, when the horde ruined the fun, but, nonetheless, most of the times it was a blast... Today we have NDisles and TT has area where you can furball, but it's not the same thing.... I badly want FT back! :(

P.S. To the people who wants a different arena for furballing: not a good idea. As Overlag said:

And this can only be achieved in a single arena, in a map that offers FT, TT and the capturing game in 1 single place. While I was fighting in FT, I could anyway enjoy the banter on ch. 200, no matter where the people was or what was doing, I could immediately go attacking a base in the next sortie, if I got bored of fighting, or taking a GV and going blasting everything in sight, without any need of switching arena. THAT was the best way of having people doing what they like, altogether and in good fun. Splitting people through specialized arenas is not a good idea, sorry.
Just my 2 cents, of course.

I badly, badly want FT back.

it would seem you have a hard time comprehending anything!!

i hate to cloud the issue with facts but, he continued on to say---

just pickin and choosin what u wanna hear just to start an argument??

i figured you fighter town guys would be happy all the maps in the rotation do nothing but create massive furballs at 2 or 3 bases personally i would like to see large maps back in rotation

Yep, that's true, especially now that bases must be captured in a certain order, but they are not the same kind of furballs you could find in FT, with lots of fighters thinking only about dogfighting, no field porkers or bombers.

Furballs now can be fun, but definitely they're not the same thing as FT, Jim. ;)

Unless Porkfrog is living in South Central LA, nothing in his experience will have equipped him to survive a Friday night in Glasgow.

Unless, of course, he's a military man and has a couple of tours of Iraq under his belt.

God I miss the neds.

yes i am in the military *cough* U.S. Coast Guard *cough*. no i have not been to Iraq. I do carry a gun, and can shoot fairly well. However, I don't think I need anything from Glasgow atm =)
