Hi Folks,
I can spring for either a set of rudder pedals or trackIR - trying to get both would result in terminal wife ack.
Given the choice, what would you go for?
Cheers.

Pedals...for planes such as the 38 it helps a lot. You will progress a lot more with pedals and doing moves before unless you had a twisty stick. Pedals will take time getting used to but worth it.

A very personal desicsion. I would say TIR.

Sorry - I forgot to say I do have a twisty stick - X-52.
-
pedals - then set ur X52 twist axis to rudder trim inside AH
-
pedals. IMO, pedals are a must, TIR is a 'nice to have'.
-
Flip a coin.
You'll be real happy with either one.
-
TIR as you already have a rudder it will be a more signifiant change.
-
Pedals!
They are much finer control then the twisty.
And the AH view system via hatswitch is good enough as to not make the TIR really "neccessary". Like Spatula said... TIR is "nice to have".

As an owner of a TIR and ped.
I agree 100% with this.
What good is being able to track target a bit better.? If I cant fine tune the shot for the kill.

Pedals. The pedals can make a real difference in your flying. I've used the rocker on the x-45 and I've used a twisty stick and the pedals are just better and easier to use. Once you get some practice with them they become instinctive to use. TrackIR would be nice but the hatswitch views are pretty good

You need to scale that thing.
Out of the box settings are not good.

Thanks for all the replies folks.
Bought pedals yesterday. I spent most of last night veering off the runway on landing or sticking it on its nose by being a little too heavy on the toe breaks.
In the heat of a fight I'm also still trying to twist rather than use my feet - bit like learning to drive a car if you've been used to riding bikes. I'm also finding it a little counter intuitive - for whatever reason, to yaw left my instinct was to push the right pedal, not the other way around.
So when you see my plane wobbling around drunkenly, I have all my excuses already lined up.
:D

took me about a week to remember that i had pedals, then another week to remember to not twist the stick. now i dont even need to think about it. good luck with them, take the time to make adjustments. was about a month before i stopped adjusting mine.

Try switching back and forth. I have pedals in Hawaii and twisty in Guam. Maybe that is one reason why my plane is always on fire.

Here's a little tip that might help. Go up in the TA or off line, takeoff and then just fly around using rudder to do all your turns. If you need a memory aide just think of it as stepping down on the wing you want to go down. You'll still need to use your stick for pitch but you'll pick up on using the rudders (and which pedal to push) rather quickly. Also, make sure you lock out the twist function on the X-52.
