its worth updaing to or should i stay as i am plaese help as not sure

If you are running windows ME or 2000, yes, go to 8a.

If you are win 98 or 95 and already have 7a I see no reason to upgrade yet.  (Probably soon though... )

You need to realize that if you go to DX 8, WILL break RW.  You will have to set it to wav recording instead of direct sound.

DX 8a can also mess up joysticks that connect via usb.

MadMax!

I downloaded and installed Dx8 and had no problems at all.  I'm running win98SE also.  as a matter of fact, I have a geforce2 gts Pro card that flickered occaisionally when I was playing AH.  Dx8 seems to have solved that problem.

remember though, it worked for me.....I'm using as follows:

AMD athlon 950
256meg pc100 ram
Hercules Prophet Pro GeForce2GTS 64meg vid
Diamond Monster MX300 soundcard (aureal 3d)
Asus K7M ( very early athlon MB) flashed bios
and a cable modem.  :D

DX8 crushed AH. Ready to reformat HD. I'm SOL dude.

Wait another month at least!!
