I'm going to be the optimist that my wife told me to be last Saturday. As she said..."You GOTTA BELIEVE!" and she wasn't talking about the Lord. ;)
So here goes, post your picks!
Seahawks upset the Bears!
Saints over the Eagles
Patriots upset Chargers!
Ravens beat Colts
-
Ravens
Bears
Patriots
Eagles
-
Bears Saints Chargers Ravens
-
Bears win - Grossman gets benched while Griese efficiently wins the game
Saints dominate the Eagles - The blitzing Eagle D gets exploited for big plays
Ravens over the Colts - Manning chokes again, the Ravens RB's show that the KC game was a fluke
Chargers over the Pats - LT proves too much for a mediocre Pats team. Merriman spends the day on top of Brady
-
Bears- shouldnt even be a close game
Saints- by a narrow margin over the eagles expecting close game especially that crowd at the superdome should be roaring
Ravens- Manning will get picked off too many times for the colts to even have a chance
Chargers- Brady wont even be able to get the ball off as will see merriman in his face all day long and what team to date has been able to stop LT
-
I will gurantee a Patriot win for a # of reasons...# 1 Defense - # 5 overall defense ( i think), and also one of the top run defenses. Expect LT with 30 touches, double team each time. Once LT is out of the game, Philip Rivers is forced to throw into a secondary, with the NFL's leader for INT.
# 2- Philip Rivers - First play off game....nuff said
# 3- Marty - Can you say choke?
# 4- Brady
# 5 - Bellicheck
# 6 - Caldwell/Gaffney (2 biggest sleepers in the NFL)
# 7 - Patriots experience.
Pats win!!!!!!!!!!!

Seahawks
Eagles
Colts

I just tell it like it is Rip. Besides, we used to imitate Matt's dad when were kids

Seahawks
Ravens
Saints
Chargers

First game is about to start, better get these in:
Bears over Seahawks. If they lose, it will be the third one and done since 2000. People in Chicago will be pissed.
Pats upset the Chargers. Chargers are tough, but Shotty is a moron.
Ravens over Indy. Another early exit for Manning. He and his brother can go shoot some golf and compare their plight to daddy's.
Saints over the Eagles. Major ray Nagin doped the Eagles drinking water with floodwater from Katrina. Nothing like a little e coli in the 3rd quarter to slow ya down.
-
Not a horrible game for the eagles, but not nearly good. While Westbrook made some huge plays, he dropped many simple short passes. Couple this with the referee's damn near outright refusal to call a foul against New Orleans, and the game swung the saints way.
And then Andy Reid showed everyone in the world how truly incompetent he is. 4th and 15, we need to score, and there's about 1:45 left in the game. So what does he do? He punts.
I'll be glad when people stop thinking I'm crazy when I say that Andy Reid isn't worth the stain on his underwear.

To Andy's defense, I suppose he thought he could stop them on the Saints next possession, combined with two time outs, and would have had something like 45 seconds left on the clock. The other option is go for it, and if you DON'T make it, game is over right then and there...

I'm assuming you didn't watch the game. Because if you did you would know that the Eagles hadn't been able to stop the saint's run game all night. What makes you think it would be any different then?
The saddest part about this whole thing is that next season we will still have Andy Reid as coach, and Donovan McNabb will be back as quarterback. Again, I will become emotionally uninvolved with the eagles.

Chargers uber alles.
-
I have to give the Colts their due. They went into their old city, where people - even the scoreboard - called them 'the team from Indy' and not the Colts - where there were "f*** Jim Irsay" signs everywhere - against the best defense in the NFL suposedly - and moved the ball. And stopped the Ravens offense cold.
Clearly the run game is not what it once was for the Ravens - but damn - they couldnt do squat.
I'm thinking my Bears are about to get exposed as just as overrated as my Wolverines were in the Rose Bowl. Starts in 2 hours.

Good picks. Cept maybe for the Bears.
Just wondering how you come to that conclusion?
Bears are probably the worst 13-3 team in history who probably had as many games given to them by opposing teams as they have taken by themselves.
Their true W-L record should probably be closer to Seattles
Seattle on the other hand can be a far better team then their record indicates
I call the game a tossup. Depending on which teams show up for either side
I'll take Seattle in a close one
---EDIT---
Ehh what the hell.
I'll even give it a shot at calling the score
Seattle 26
Bears 20

Whats even sadder for The Eagles is Garcia is set to be an unrestricted Free agent

Lots of folks say the Bears game wasn't going to be close...well, news for ya, it was. And it came down to a botched snap between our center and QB...Alexander said in a post game interview "if we don't botch that snap, I think I score from the vantage point I had of the O-line opening up a hole..." (Final Seahawk drive in the 4th)
Great game, best game this week-end. Congrats to Chicago, you dodged a bullet, this round...
-
If the Bears had a quarterback that can get the ball out in front of a receiver it wouldn't have been close. The biggest thing that stopped the Bears was receivers having to turn around to make a catch. Griese needs to be in there if Chicagos wants the big one.l
-
I'll say this though, I don't think Hunter is going to be working loans for a while. That guy came on strong.

I think NO will have no problems with the Bears if they play mistake free football. Seattle was a banged up, patch-work team on Defense, and we still pressured Grosswoman all day.

I'm watching the Pats/Chargers game right now and wondering how much the Pats miss Deon Branch ;)
-
I'm watching the charger game wondering if SD can manage to self destruct, stealing defeat from the jaws of victory again.

Same old Marty ball...different season. He reminds me of Chuck Knox, great at getting to post season, but then chokes...
We'll see, Marty has 4 minutes left to move the ball to FG range.
-
BS.
Marty ball has NOTHING to do with the rookie mistakes the chargers have been making. It's going to be called a meltdown tomorrow.
It started with the fumbled kick return... Complete rookie kind of mistake. He drops it and then with the entire pats team about to jump on him, he tries to pick it up instead of falling on it? Sheesh.
Then numbnuts head-butting someone and drawing a 15 yd penalty after STOPPING the pats dead.
Then another handful of picks, fumbles, and personal foul penalties.
Total meltdown of the Chargers, as usual. No freaking way is that "martyball", whatever the hell that means. It's players on one team making retarded mistakes, and players on the other team taking advantage of them, nothing more.
-
Well, no one picked all 4 right this week. Looks like SD has about a min left to stay alive.
Edit: Cya San Diego!

The captain is in charge of the ship!

Boy that was an ugly LT at the end of that game! Just gave my oldest son a lesson on how NOT to lose, ungracefully, like he did.
-
Well I was wrong about the Bear Seattle game.
And wrong on the score.
But I was right on it being a close game.
I'll even go so far as to say the Bears earned that one
They still aint winning the Super Bowl though
-
Ahhh Rip, he handled it fine. The guy is a class act but that was a hard one to lose. It could have ended much uglier walking through those Patriots. He shouldn't have let the other guys yapping get to him but he didn't head butt anyone...

As far as LT, I would have been upset too, but if you are going to dish it out you better be able to take it. The Pats players interviewed said the Charger players were smack talkin' and dancin' all game.
-
Lots of close games in the playoffs, but the Patriots-Chargers was the real Super Bowl. Patriots-Colts should be interesting, but that winner against the Bears-Saints winner will be an anticlimax.
Heart roots for Indianapolis, but head says it will be:
Patriots beat Colts
Saints beat Bears
Patriots beat Saints
Remember, you read it first here. :D
