I did a brief search on this.. It may have already been discussed.
I dont use tracers in the birds but do use them in vehicles. I hate it when I leave from a GV and hop into a plane just to find that I have left the tracers on.
Can we spit the settings for the two. Have a tracers on for GV/plane only or sumtin along those lines?
-
Can I ask why you care about tracers being on in the aeroplane? Not being rude, just asking a question.
-
Why no tracers.... If you miss your target with the first burst... he has no idea
Mind you when your trying to clear your buddies six and your tracers are off you have to actually hit the badguy to make him break off
-
And no there is one setting for all GV's and Planes IIRC
-
Mussie hit it right on..
I also think they blind me somewhat. I just like to see the hit sprites.
-
I like no tracers in the air & tracers on the ground too. I really need them in the M-16

It's the same reason real pilots often had their ground crews not load tracer. Tracers can be misleading and not using them can improve gunnery. I don't use them at all.

its hard enough to hit a plane turning with tracers, :D
-
tracers on M-16GMAC's is pretty much the olny thing its usefull for
on planes i hate tracers cause i normally miss on the first few shots(or a hundred) and they know that im shooting at them:o

Umm, I may be wrong on this, but if you have your tracers off, your enemy will still see tracers coming from you if he has them on....no?

You could make the setting match the mode. For example, switch to mode 1, you can select if that mode will have tracers (Default for mode 1 is airplanes). Switch to mode 2, select if it should have tracers or not (Default for mode 2 is GV's).

No. The enemy can't see whats not there.

Very true, cause I remember when people got mad at me because I shot them down and they never saw me shooting. It took 4 minutes of convincing to calm them down that I was NOT a cheater.

I have heard that blkmagic. That it depends on both systems, I have tracers off & the only time I see them is from the ground ack I just assumed every player in the game had them off (lol)

Denholm,
I will give that a shot. Thanks.

blkmgc,
I understand what your thinking but No it does not work that way. If you turn them off no one can see anything no matter what their settings are. All you will see is hit sprites.

Your settings wont effect the plane on your six. If it has tracers on you are going to see them if your looking.

This isn't currently possible. He was suggesting it to HTC, I believe.
The biggest problem with that is that tracers are set as you leave the tower, meaning if you change your tracer settings in mid flight, it applies to your next flight. Control set commands, even automatic ones, appear to happen after you hit the runway.

Hmm didnt know that. Thanks.

I have a severe NEED for tracers, simply because I often use them to clear somone's six. But, in bombers, I like to turn them off, so the little C-Hog newb who thinks he is being 'sneaky' by approaching my B-17G from dead six 10mph faster than me and flying straight and level never knows just how he died...

Funny thing is, when I am cruising in a B-17, im really not paying any attention. The only way I even get a hint that they are there is when from D600 their aim is so bad I see the tracers whizzing by not doing a hint of damage, I jump into the rear, fire a 1 sec. burst and BOOM! Easy kill.

Soooooo when do we get the colored tracers?
