Title: DX8a Problems - Help!
Post by: Replicant on June 18, 2001, 04:21:00 PM
Hi all

I recently installed DX8a in anticipation of AH 1.08.  Anyway, I'm now experiencing total system lock ups and Esc, Ctrl Alt Del has no effect - you must reset manually.

My system specs are:-

Win 98 with updates
Tbird 1 gig
256 RAM
GeForce 2 GTS 64mb with 10.80 Det Drivers
SB Live Value with most recent drivers (still year old though)

BIOS isn't bang up-to-date, but at least 6 months recent.  VIA chip about the same.

I'm also using a Saitek X36 Combo with SGE (version 6, 10, 100, 1281) - should I go for latest version?  It's just I remember someone having probs with SGE and Dx8 - anyone?

So, does anyone have any recommendations?  I actually had a lock up the first time I tried writing this post!    :(

Regards

Nexx

The bad news nexx is that I've quite the same config and I've got lookup when I've migrated to DX8 the only way I found was to do a complete re-installation of the PC   :(

same here ... and after manual reset scandisk comes along :-(

AH ran reasonably stable with the 6.50 drivers. then i upgraded to 12.41 and got problems ; sudden AH crashes to the desktop.
downgraded to 10.80 and now AH completely locks up !
i'm going back to 7.78, someone in another thread mentioned them ... if i still got problems after that, i'm going back to 6.50 ...

about same system specs as you ; AMD 1gig, geForce2 MX, VIA chipset (latest drivers).
