Last night I reformatted my harddrive. I downloaded the full version of AH today. When I try to start the game it gives me the screen asking for my vid card info, then when I choose ok I get an illegal operation message with the following details.

Oh I forgot to include my specs.

STB Velocity 128 vid card
4000mhz celeron
64 megs RAM

Did you reinstall DirectX?  You need 6.1 or greater.

Those dump messages from windows are as usefull as tits on a bull.
My recomendation is to install the latest direct-x then install the latest drivers for your everything.
That normally sorts it out.
Sounds like incompatible versions of dlls etc. (could be anything really).

I bet Dx7a will solve your problem.  (I think win 98 installs Dx5?? by default.)
