Title: Skin viewing issues
Post by: Serenity on January 16, 2007, 10:34:27 PM
Alright, I wanted to save surprise until I had pictures, but I made my first skin. Only issue: I cannot get it to show up offline, and I cannot find out where to download ths skin viewer. I edited the external textures only of course, in layers, 1024 x 1024 as per specification, and exported to 256 color. Any suggestions?

What plane? What directory did you place it in? If we know that we can suggest a proper directory name.

You need to create a directory inside skins, called "ar234_1" (or whatever the default is with a _1 on the end). Then put the files in there.

Okay

You should have a directory named:

Aces High II\skins\ar234_1

In this you have 2 bitmaps that are saved in 8-bit (256 color) format.

That bitmaps need to be named:

AR234SD.bmp
AR234WG.bmp

If you have these, then I'd guess that you have a problem with the way you exported the images (they are not 8-bit) and the game cannot display them so it doesn't show them, it shows the default instead.

Well, they seem to have exported them just fine. Thats the name I have on the folder. And its not that when I click the other skin I get the default, there is no option other than the default. Ive had an issue similar to this, but it at least gave me the option to select mine, and sent me back to default. This doesnt display anything but default under the drop-down list.

edit: I even open those exported bitmaps with paint, and RE-SAVED them as 256 color just to make sure.
