Hello.
I just got DSL.. I lose udp and switch to tcp then lose connection almost immediatly. Before, I used dial up and used open air connections on occasion and didnt have this problem. I talked to my ISP and they said I have no connection problems. I've benn playin for almost two years now and think I have ny PC "tuned" well for the game IE: Limited Processes, No firewall/antivirus, etc..
my pings at connection time are 78 to 94, my frame rates stay at 65/84 pretty consistent unless I,m on the deck with a lot of action around, then I MIGHT DROP TO 20 OR SO.
ps. I have the ping plotter but not sure exactly how to use it or show someone else what it says
Please help!!

I have DSL that comes in on the phone line. I had no problems then started having discos. Then i noticed it was happening when someone was on the phone. Come to find out one of my cordless phone has lots of noise on it. So i unpluged it and everything seems ok now.
If you have the phone line DSL like mine you must use the filters that plugs into the phone jacks to use phones or answering maching/fax ect.
check for noise on phones or bad filters.
Hope this helps.

BLUE,
a couple of things i noticed in your dxdiag report:
- " DirectX Files Tab: The file d3d9d.dll is a debug version, which will run slower than the retail version. " - im not sure how much of a problem this is. Ask Skuzzy about it first if you have doubts. But i think a reinstall of DirectX would fix this.
- Your driver for the 7600 GS is the 93.71 version. You should know that the 9x.xx series of drivers causes all sorts of problems. "Downgrade" the driver to something in the 8x.xx series - make sure youre removing the 93.71 version before installing the new one
- your sound hardware accelleration is set to full. This can be cause of screen freezes and other issues. Set it to 3/4 (Standard)
Use of Pingplotter:
Start the program. Set the time between pings to 5 second and the "number of traces included" to 10. Now put one of the IP adresses for the Arenas (Early, Mid, Late War Main Arena Server Address: 206.16.60.39; All other arenas: 206.16.60.38) in the "Adress to trace" form. Then hit the big TRACE button and let it do its job.
To post the result here, click the EDIT menu. You can either "copy as text" or "copy as image". Both times, the data will be stored temporarily in your Windows clipboard (like when you hit CTRL_C to copy something).
If you choose the "text", just open your post and paste the result in (with CTRL_V).
If you want to post the result as a picture, select the "copy as image" and open any picture editing software (Paint, Photoshop.....). Create a new image and paste the plot in with CTRL_V again. Save the image on your HDD. To include it into a posting, youll need to host it somewhere on the web.
One thing you could check: Are you using a router? You might not have a firewall on your computer, but most Routers have one.
-
As schatzi mentioned, your router will usually always have a firewall. Even the provided DSL modem that your ISP gives you to connect to their servers. Usually they have firewalls which require you to open ports 2000-6000 on UDP and TCP forwarded to your "internal address" (Your IP Address).
Opening that port range is required on most DSL connections if you attempt to connect to the main arenas. Let me know if I should explain how to access your router / dsl modem's configuration panel.

OK thanks for the tips,
I'm gonna try all that stuff tonight after work.
I'm not sure how to change the ports on the DSl modem, please advise.
Also not sure how to properly remove old drivers, please advise.
I have the windows firewall turned off, and am not using a router, it's a straight connection to the modem, I also turn off the norton antivirus app, when I'm playin.

OK I just put 192.168.1.1 adress in my browser to try and accsess the modem and it prompts for a name and pass word. I dont rremember making one up at all. Is it some default or somthing and I still need to know what to do once I get in there please.
Thank You.
-
try admin for both of them. its usally the default one
-
"admin" Or leave the fields blank. Either one is default. If you can't gain access try resetting the modem by un-plugging it and then re-activating power after 30 seconds or so. If you still can't get in call your ISP (Internet Service Provider). They're sure to know how you can access your modem's configuration panel.
EDIT: Just remembered, my DSL modem asks me for login info as well, I just insert my ISP provided e-mail address login info and login just fine. Username would be the name before the "@" symbol. For example: someone@something.com, username would be "someone".
-
another to try is
Username: admin
password: password
I have a d-link di-624, and this is the default user and pass, might be that way on more D-Link's
-
OK.
I changed the graphics card drivers, lowered sound acceleration to standard, totally cleaned up the PC, and every thing seems to be fine now,
I got into my DSL modem but did not see or figure out how to set the ports. There was options for firewall settings, I set them to OPEN,
I played for bout 20 min at like 6am seemed good to go, I'll play longer tonight to make sure but I think I'm back in the air and reay to scare,
so thank you guys very much for the help , "I was getting an inordinate build up of aggression" with out being able to get my fix so thanks again .

Youre welcome!
