I downloaded the latest version of the AH software today, together with the Hi-Res artwork. I was able to get it to start, and selected a high res config, and flew a plane - I don’t recall being offered a choice of planes, and can’t be sure what I was in! But it flew just fine, the graphics were great, and I landed it after a 2 minute flight. Frame rate, by the way, was 24.
I then exited the program, but now when I try to start it again for a new session, all I get is a sky blue screen, with nothing on it at all. No keys work, except Alt+Esc to get back to the desktop, where I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to get rid of AH in order to regain control of my system. When doing this, I notice that there are two versions of AH running! When I EndTask the second one, I get the blue screen of death - the DOSsy Windows screen saying that there is a fault, and basically I need to reboot. So as of now, I am unable to start AH. Can you help?

BTW, go get a TNT2-Ultra, with 32mg ram, ditch VooDoo, I did, and have never looked back!

make sure and download dx7.a and also delete the video.cfg in the ah folder then restart and select a lower res video
also see the bsod blue screen of death post on this part of the board

Do you have a voodoo card? If so, you are limited to a max of 16 bit color. Picking 32 will cause the error you described. Delete your video.cfg in your aces high directory and pick 16 bit color the next time you start AH.
That should fix it for you.

Excellent! It works again, and I'm using 1024x768.
The plane I was offered looks like a F6F - where do I get offered a choice of planes??
I like the way the constant speed prop is modelled - ie no variance of engine note pitch in climb or dive - that bugged me in WB from day 1, but nothing was done!

When you start up Aces High, you wind up in the Tower to start. On your clipboard, you will see a button labelled "Hangar", click that and it will bring you to your aircraft hangar where you can choose a plane, choose it's loadout, and set gun convergence.
If you get to the Hangar screen and you can't find your clipboard, hit the Esc key and it will pop back up. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Also, I'm betting you will be looking for a Spitfire.. so I would reccomend you set your gun convergence at about 275 yards. Try to fire close to that range and you should shred what you hit. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
