It'd not how many are in-flight but how many are logged in that determines ENY value. Notice the difference (though still kinda small) between the total players.
-
look next to cnt it says "inflight"
both 55
-
Read my post.
Cnt is the number of people logged in to each side. In-flight is how many people are in a plane, gun, tank, or boat.

Look 2 columns to the right where it says "% Total". Clearly it is based on # logged, not in flight. Eny is based on this percentage, not in flight.
-
Well what on Earth would the Bishies do if they couldn't fly Lgays.. :rofl
-
What does a guy sittin in the tower do to help the war effort?
Cant you base ENY on the planes inflight?:noid

Because it doesn't account for guys in GV's, or guys manning guns maybe?
Just because they aren't inflight, doesn't neccessarily mean they in the tower.
-
OZZ is saying in flight counts boats/gv's/aircraft, and manned guns.
I agree with him, and I still think that is what ENY should be based on.:D
-
Yamamoto, Mousalinni(sp) and Hitler would have loved ENY:rofl
-
It is based on what everyone is in that I mentioned above. I've been wondering why it doesn't base off in-flight numbers a while ago too. Also note my thread a while ago in the Wishlist titled "AFK Kicking."
-
One problem with basing on "In Flight" == you'd get LOTS more fluctuation.
Would also leave the system far more open to manipulation, by (for example) having large numbers sit it tower for a mission and waiting till enough there to let Lgays up.
Or, even more mean -- the low side could go on strike, and sit in tower till the only things up are C47s and spit I's.
-
well then the system should boot peopl;e if they are AFK longer than 10 mins

Which after seeing some #'s and "fight" patterns tonight, wouldn't be a bad idea :D

Well, there weren't very many people who said "no." (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=193096)

Anyone getting their butt kicked would love ENY. Horde monkeys wouldn't.

I've said it in the past, and I'll say it again. HTC should enable something where if someone is sitting idle in the tower, hangar or O'club for 60 minutes, they are automatically logged off. At any given point there are prolly 10-15 people away from the computer for hours at a time, yet still logged in, which effects ENY. And don't get me started about when a country is within reset distance. No one logs off...Must got those 25 free perk points! must!

Or maybe just have ENY calculated using the number of deployed users (i.e. in planes, GVs or manning guns) per country, instead of just everyone logged into the arena?
-
See now if people learned to become pretty decent in the less then superduper EZmode planes
They wouldnt give a damn about eny
But I guess working for a living is COMPLETELY out of the question huh?
LOL Its become the American way
Bump Eny all you want. Ill just change planes and still kill you anyway
EXmode and superduper planes blow up just as pretty as goons do :D
-
I wouldnt mind seeing ENY go away. Back in AHI the biggest whine was about a laggy map. I am not saying this is a whine. But it seems the more HTC adds or changes, it just causes more issues. If it aint broke don't fix it. We lost our big server, our big maps and now we can't fly the plane we want because "X" number of players are not flying for "Y" country.

Starting not to mind ENY, I see the point of it, but I hate the whole "One country is about to win so I'll switch sides for those magic perks. That drives the ENY through the roof. Oh well its not my 15 bucks:eek:

That doesn't work. You have to be part of the winning country for either 12 or 24 hours (forget which) to get the perks for the win.

ENY of 7 ? This is over an ENY of 7 ?!
Cuts out 11 planes, 6 of them perk rides. Leaves 63 other planes available.
hmmmm......As lowest ENY I fly is Ki-84, or sometimes the F4U-1A, at 15 points,...and I try to avoid highest population countries when I log in.... not an issue.

Although I detest the ENY system it has had one upside for me. Since I love the D pony(my dad loved it too so I had many books about it as a kid)
I simply fly for the side w/ the fewest numbers. I have made several new acquaintances along the way and have enjoyed flying w/ new wingies.
Also, contrary to what Shawk told me, I've learned that the Nits are not all Boogeymen and that Bish are not all related to Richard Simmons and inbued w/ his tendencies towards a mustache and feminine qualities.
Shawk, you lied!
-
I love the ENY system.
I have heard enough whining on the country channel about not beeing able to up this or that uber ride to see that it actually works. :)
Yesterday one of the zipcodes defending a base with me got pissed about not beeing able to up the spit16. I told him to try out the 109G6 and Hurricane and he fell inlove with the HurrC..... another sole converted away from the spit16. :)
-
I think Sim's post is spot on. You cant base ENY on in flight for exactly that reason. In the above example say 30 people join a mission and sit and wait for 15 minutes. It would probably even give the Knights ENY problems.
ENY is there for a reason to promote equal sides. If I can't fly my favourite rides because i'm sitting on a Rook horde I will swap sides. If I don't want to do that there are very capable planes for High ENY.
Dora = 15
Spit9 = 20
P47's = can't remember
109's = dunno
There are still loads of planes to get kills in.
For these people who say I want to fly what i want when i want grow up.
-
well since someone bumped it..... I don't see why ENY isn't based on the local area you are fighting in.
I don't mind the reason behind ENY and I understand it, but time and time again one team might have the bigger numbers overall but are greatly out numbered in local areas around the map.
ENY doesn't bug me so much because I don't normally fly anything that's lower than ENY of 15, 90% of the time. However sometimes like tonight it gets up there around 15 to 20 which is kinda ridiculous.
-
It all depends on exactly what it is that we are trying to accomplish.
You want great furballs, Eny needs to be tied to fields not people.
As long as the balance stays reasonable ENY would not kick in. Someone starts landgrabbing and ENY is going to slow it down.
You want to win the war, rack up the perks then it needs to stay the way it is.
We don't even have 6 months under the new setup yet. Community needs to encourage more people to fly for the underdog.
You want balance, you can't look short term. Step WAY back and look again.
Me I just want to fly without getting ganged by 8 zillion alt monkey rooks.
But then I'm strange I guess.

Sure.
"Ok everyone, into the tower! On count of three, everyone get into the best ENY 5 aircraft you can!"
Guess that's one way to have numerical superiority AND keep the good hardware.
:rofl

Thanks Bald,
I had been misinformed. <>:aok

lol, Steve! I do the same. Here's an easy way to judge when to jump countries, look in the hangar and if the 262 is over 200 perks then jump to the lowest country!!!!!! If eny is high on my side, and I can't jump countries, I just fly a 1-hog and problem is solved! :aok

I like the ENY, yeah some of the numbers for the planes seem off (51D ENY of 5 i think) But I've learned at lot from my ENY post. ENY gives me a reason to try a new plane. Had ENY the other night so I jumped in a lower model 110 (cant remember which one) but it had 4000 rounds of machine gun ammo. I ran out of fuel before I ran out of bullets. Its also fun to fly P40, I just slick my hair back like Ben Affleck and head to the skies!:p

Reminds me of the old IT triangle when dealing with a customer: good, fast, cheap; pick any two.
It's fly "what i want", "when i want", "where i want"...... you get to pick two, not all three all the time.

Try the 38J or 38L. Pretty fast, climbs well, zoom climbs really well, seems to absorb more damage than average, guns are awesome and convergence issues minimal as they are all in the nose (it is awesome for deflection shots), ya got two engines so you can still get home if one gets blown out, and it is really easy to takeoff and land as the dual props cancel out the rotation other planes suffer from (Spit!).
Just work like hell not to break 450mph in a dive, but if ya do, kill combat trim, hit the dive flaps, kill the throttle, and pray. Also, don't get sucked into a stall fight. And remember what a huge target you present if you give someone a top-or-bottom side view.
Otherwise it is a sweet ride. Plus they are scary as hell to see zooming in on your six.

What are you talking about!?!?!? P38s suck and are the worst plane to fly in AH.

Correction--P51D has an eny of EIGHT.---which doesnt kick it out until numbers are fairly skewed--P47N, on other hand, a slower plane, possibly the WORST climbing fighter in the game, has an eny of FIVE, same as an La7. N's only advantage other than good range on internal fuel is that it's 20 knots faster than the D40---which allows it to leave planes it has difficulty dealing with, like spit16, behind. (Still slower than Lghey, K4 and Yak-U). Can anyone pull up usage/ K/D of N vs D40---stats thing no worky in my house
