What do you think about putting some code into the game that would make freshly spawned vehicles and planes indestructable until they are rolling?
I suppose that turrets, supply drops and machine guns would need to be disabled until the vehicle or plane starts rolling too...
-
Why should game code correct deficiencies in players overall SA? Watch map first & take a look from tower to see if base is clear for takeoff. If not, choose another or be willing to get shot.

I wish I could see a spawn from 25 miles away, Lusche. Lemme guess, you can with Alt-F4? :D
This was discussed and labeled as a "good idea" in the last Aces High Convention recordings.

Read my post again and you will note that I am just talking about planes...

With the increased random spawn area & the removing of hiding spots around those spawns, the GV camping is much more difficult than it used to be & because of that spawn camping has decreased considerably. I'm happy with it the way it is but I suppose it could be made even more difficult for defenders.
You have to address the question, at what distance are you "spawn camping" vs. "defending"?
If they did anything I would say increase the size of the spawn more & make it a rectangular spawn instead of a circular one, or even a horse shoe shape, or several smaller circular ones separated by a good distance in say, a clover shape or like the club on a playing card.
Anything that puts the defending GV's at risk of being caught with enemy GV's spawning in front of & behind them at the same time means the playing field has been evened out.
As far as turrets disabled, they already are until the AC gets off the ground. If you made GV's that way (M-16's & Osties) you would be in effect, crippling them; it's hard enough to hit anything when your sitting still! Supplies really have to be available from a motionless state because that's the nature of the beast, if you made supplies only dispensable from vehicles in motion, then that would mean all troops would have to be air dropped, no more landing & letting them run. No M-3's parking in a hiding spot & letting their troops out as enemy IL-2's & Hurri's circle overhead cutting their engines periodically to listen for GV's. It seems to me that would change the dynamics of the game in a negative way.
I'll say it again, I like it the way it is. But I have heard some ideas that sounded great in theory....not sure how they would work in practice though.

Yeah, I was really thinking more in terms of GV's when I posted and just threw AC in on a whim.

Prehaps I wasn't clear enough in my original post - I was thinking that GV guns would be disabled until the GV moves - this action would activate the guns... As far as troops and supplies go you would not be able to spawn and drop - you would need to spawn, start engine, roll a bit, then drop(or stop and drop)
By the way - why when we spawn AC the engine automatically starts up but GV's you have to start it on your own?
-
Aircraft engines only start on launch when Auto-Takeoff is turned on. As tanks don't need auto-takeoff, they aren't tied into that system.

IF anything, the plane icon should not appear till the wheels have left the ground....
But then again when I get vulched taking off from a capped base its no ones fault but my own
-
Nothing need to be done with vulching planes. You always can see if there are enemies around and if you didnt check or up anyway and end up vulched its only your own fault.
Spawn camping is different for obvious reasons. I dont think its good solution to make gvs indestructable until engine start or moving because there are no way to realize is gv vulnerable or no yet. May be make gv invisible for 15-20 sec after spawn would better. Any action exept turning turret make it visible.

How about you increase the radius of the spawn point itself? If buddy's camping point 'A' and you might appear in a, what?, 1k radius you could remain undetected for a bit.
Or...have spawn points with protective cover (say you spwn inside a barn).
-
A fair way of spawning on ground would be to at least spawn with turrent directed in general direction of spawn camper so it would give a fighting chance. Not pointed dead on but visual enough where the gv has a chance.
Planes...was a fact of the war more planes were killed at the airfield under 1k than in flight.

I think thats how big it is now. Now if we can just get HT to implement it at all bases . So spawn campers there have a bit more work.

If you code tanks to not take damage untill they roll why would they move??? They wont get killed if they sit where they spawn.

i spawned behind a camper once, i laughed

Exactly.....players would be gaming the game. Spawn, sit there, report what you see to others while you are invulnerable. Other players giving away their positions, or wasting ord on you.
Not a good idea at all. If spawn point is camped... report it on Country, and go in with attack planes to clear it out. If you keep upping and getting killed, you deserve it.... virtual-Darwinism in action.

The idea that was accepted at the Convention by HTC as the best way of doing it is to make the vehicle flash white, be indestructible, and be unarmed for a set time. Then it would be able to get away from the danger area and get somewhat set up before it could be fired upon, but wouldn't be able to fire until it was vulnerable as well.
