Post by: cav58d on January 21, 2007, 12:52:58 PM
In conversation when someone say's "let me be totally honest with you".

ummmm?  Okay, so are you saying you have been lying up to this point?  lmao

And how about when you're in conversation and someone jumps in with "I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt but...."

hmmmm...So if you didn't mean to interrupt, what were your intentions?  lmfao

I think the term means to be candid, to not pull punches:  I have been delicate with you up till this point and you're still not getting it.  I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings but sometimes the truth hurts.

I've always found it funny when people say the most horrible things, but begin with "With all due respect..." or when watching parliament on CSPAN "The right honorable gentleman.."

Examples: "With all due respect, your an idiot."  "The right honorable gentleman has obviously lost his mind."

The one I don't like is "we...."

"Can we think about getting X, Y, or Z done?"  or "Did we remember to...?"

Now you know dang well that when anyone says "WE" in this manner, they're really asking YOU to do it, so why don't they just say YOU?

Dang it!  Just say what you mean!  Don't beat around the bush... just say what you gotta say and then move on.
