Or maybe the Saints arent what I thought they were. Gonna be a gooooood SuperBowl I'd say. No matter which AFC team gets in

This is one happy Bear fan. :D :D :D :D :D

Yeah the defense carried them throughout the first half. Grossman scares the hell outta me. Like the Ravens when they won in 2002.
Just keep the ball out of his hands and they might not lose.

Gee, I don't know, looking at some of the scores on the 13 regular season wins, I would say they played well alot, not "for a change". Maybe it's just me though.

Bears played good, but AFC wins the SB. Grosswoman will be harassed all day and be forced into acting like the real Grosswoman.

And what is the combined record of all those teams they beat?

Lovie outcoached Payton- period. The Saints lost for one reason- they were one dimensional. I don't think they ran on one first down. Play action doesn't work if you aren't running the ball. Deuce McCallister had only 6 carries. And he got 18 yards, so it wasn't like he was being stuffed. Payton had a quarterback brain fart and forgot you have to run the ball to win.
In all fairness, Payton is a rookie. I'll give him a few days to admit he gave the game away by forgetting to run the ball OCCAISIONALLY.
This was a stinker - good luck in the SB Bears!

1 better-than-average-team with a 4th place schedule beat aNOTHER better-than-average-team with a 4th place schedule.
-
On the plus side - the NFL has the bowl they wanted- very progressive.

yeah, darned, how does it work out that they are the NFC champs? One might be given to think they were the best team in the NFC. Actually, due to the playoff system, I guess they are.
And fans of the other teams are just poor sports.

NFC -- there is your answer. Whole conference was below average this year, it seemed.
I've always liked the Bears. But I also have to be totally honest -- they are the worst looking NFC championship team I think I have ever seen. Even when the ending score looks convincing, their game-play generally isn't. Their offense is shaky with extreme Jekyl-and-Hyde characteristics. Grossman can't be counted on -- give him a lesser line and he wouldn't have a single win. Their points often come off of garbage plays, special teams, and defensive scores -- not things you can count on to consistently pull your hynie out of the fire (look at the Arizona game, for cripes sake). The defense late in the season has looked absolutely pourous.
But, at the end of the day, they manage to win. That's all anyone will remember if they pull off a Superbowl win.
- and by the way, that is called an "Honest Assessment", and has nothing to do with being a "poor sport."

Folks keep saying this stuff, and yet the Bears keep winning. Odd, huh?

Not saying they arent good teams....but having bad years in 2005 gave them VERY easy schedules, thus home playoff games

Remember the Giants a couple of years back?
Here's my honest assessment. The Colts are probably gonna be favored, and rightfully so. But if the Bears are able to keep up the running game and the defense plays like it did today, they will destroy the Colts.
One thing's for sure, if the Bears do lose, I won't be blaming the officials.

They were the #2 seed in the playoffs last year.

Bears and Saints?
-
To clarify: The Bears were the #2 seed in the NFC playoffs last year. The Saints won 3 games.
The Bears did play a weak schedule to be sure, but this isn't college. They don't get to make their own schedule. ;)
Don't get me wrong- assuming a win- I would not place this Bears team in the top 20 list of greatest Super Bowl teams or anything. But they are deserving of their place at the table.

We need some sort of BCS sytle computer rankings to pick the SB teams.

I dont BS myself on my favorite team or anyone elses
The Bears were the absolute worst 13-3 team ever.
Yes they wont those games but fully half of them were practically gift wrapped and given to them rather then games they actually won through superiour play.
Including and especially BOTH Viking games, the Jet game, and the Arizona game.
All games the Bears should have lost but had handed to them outright.
The second Viking game in looked like a contest to see who wanted to win the least rather then who wanted to win.
They have played well in the playoffs I will hand them that.
