first thing comming to mind honestly is 9/11 and what a nightmare it must have been grounding all those planes. :O



I can't even talk as fast as that guy, let alone keep all the planes in my mind :lol




bunch of women pilots in there, didn't expect that,.... and MAN some of those voices i can not even understand with all the background static, and distortion.

It wasn't that great of a movie, but Pushing Tin had some interesting tidbits as a comedy about traffic controllers.

Bet he wasn't even slightly stressed by the workload. He reminds me, even sounds like a controller I know who now runs a flight school. I always had absolute confidence when I heard his voice. He even has enough spare capacity to pass on pleasantries. Some guys have it, most don't.

I used to work the mait. side of ATC and I can say most of them guys are very cool under pressure.  Infact it was when there wasn't a workload/pressure is when they started to "show their ass" so to speak.

I remember one time working on a scope for the PAR (precision approach radar) and one of my drinking buddies audry was training/qualifying a newbie.  This poor student did so bad she pointed at me and yelled "this tech could land an approach better than you".

ATC is not for the weak.

Unless there's something historic about this, some of them tapes kill the dead space between radio calls. Still, listening to that, you can follow what's going on. And yeah, he's in the zone, delivering his packages precisely synched at 2 minute intervals, notwithstanding the incompetence of the pilots or the laws of physics. When you're in the zone, it's not about stress, it's about adrenaline.

That scene reminds me of the Hispanic Channel version of "America's Funniest Videos."  That show has clips of people getting mauled, or impaled, or falling off of a roof ~ soooooo not funny! And the audience is laughing like they were at a comedy club!

As an air intercept controller, I had the opportunity... nay, the joy of working with air traffic controllers on occasion.
