I want some of what was getting smoked when that was invented.

I think it was probably outsourced, it's kinda messed up.

The platypus is part of an ancient order of mammals, the monotremes.  Its one of only two egg laying mammals, the other being the spiny ant-eater.

Mammals are evolved from a type of warm blooded dinosaur.

Listening to or watching some old Robin Williams stuff? That's part of an old Robin Williams routine he did back in the late seventies and early eighties. It can be found on "Reality. What a Concept!"

Contrary to various alleged scientific explanations, as anyone can see, the platypus obviously is the offspring of a union between a duck and a beaver.  

Beavers slapping the water with their tails are warning that ducks are coming.  :eek:
