I was under the impression that strats at a base (i.e. troops and ords) were supposed to stay down for 2 hours if not resupplied. Some friends and I were on a base in gvs and ords only stayed down for an hour if that.

To prolong strat down time it is very handy if that particular strat FACTORY is below 50%. It will max regain time. However, every drop of field supplies takes 15 min off regain time. 8 sups droped would make ANY field fully operative under these conditions.

There was no resupply. We had the based covred and no spawn point to it.

Bases within a friendly zone are automatically resupplied by the truck convoys you may have noticed from time to time. I forget what schedule they are on (probably about every 10-15 minutes).
If you were on the field, you may not have seen them since I believe they go to the base's town.

As LYNX said....reducing corresponding Strat Factorties below 50% reduces re-build times on the Airfields.
All Strat Facories must channel their goods through the City Strat. Hitting specific Strat Factories to reduce production of their goods further reduces re-build times at Airfields.
Strat Factories are continually re-supplied via Railroads, Convoys, and even Barges (depending upon the map). Reducing Strat Factories below 50% greatly inhibits their ability to get supplies to re-build Airfields.
It surprises me that you and a few friends were on an airfield for an hour without capturing it.

Well, I guess the strat system changed. I was emailed by HTC a long time ago, and the for the added bonus down time of 4 hours, 6 hrs total, a zones City must be porked to 0% along with the Factory down to 0%.
All the Best,

Radar, Ordanance, Fuel, Barracks.... will stay down for 2 hours without resupply.... that's player resupply AND drone convoy resupply....
I think every player drop takes 15 minutes off the time needed for the "next" strat to come back up.... they come up in the order they get dropped in.
Each drone convoy reduces time by 15 to 30 minutes, last I saw, and a new drone convoy spawns 10 minutes after the last one reaches destination or is destroyed. Convoy travel distances vary, but with no player resup, you can expect strats to come back up in 3/4 of an hour, roughly, IIRC.... been a while since I checked.
If the corresponding strat factory is below 50%, then the drone convoys are reduced to 1/6th efficiency.... which really lengthens the time to them coming back up by drone convoys alone.
On the larger scale...
Cities resupply HQ and the strat factories in their zone (and other cities?). City Buildings stay down 3 hours. Each train that gets through drops time by 30 minutes, each player drop 15 minutes.
By the table, city buildings resup city buildings.... so not sure how that works from map to map.
Strat Factories resup the bases within a zone.
Massed bombing of Cities and Factories with follow on attacks on base strats can shut down a Country's offensive operations in a zone for a couple hours. The problem of course is getting enough buff drivers to cooperate for the two or three runs needed to actually do the job.
Probably the best ride would be B-17's with 500 lbs bombs.....500's have the blast radius and numbers to carpet strat targets....... for 1 zone, 3 flights of buffs per strat and city could get them all under 50%......then a second mission to pork fields........left over ord back on strats..... 15 pilots.
Like I said, never get enough buff drivers together to run a pair of missions like that in War Arenas.
