If both Pc's have a Network/LAN card  these days on a laptop or PC they will be built in.

Simple Ethernet cable from one to the other.

In XP goto network connections run the network setup wizard to share files  and folders on both machines.

Might have to restart each machine once the setup is done.

Usb pens are a nice easy way of doing it.

Depends how much data you have to transfer.  My method would be good for larger files.

If you choose to link them via the network cards, make sure you use a crossover cable - not a "straight through". Otherwise they won't be able to talk to each other.

Can you even buy crossover cables?  I've always just built my own.  Not sure if they sell them.

Well, apperently they do sell 'em, lol.

At $10 a pop, for a 3 ft cable, I should start selling 'em on Ebay!

you do know though you can't just copy the "AHII" folder, you have to actually install the programs on the other PC

You need to configure the Local Area Connection on both laptops, although they should be giving themselves so-called APIPA adresses unless you've already configured one or both of them. If they aren't configured correctly they still won't be able to talk. Windows has lots of onboard help files. While alot of the help files are at times useless, a few can be very helpful. There's also a network configuration wizard that will do it for you with just a little help from you. Its often hard to diagnose every little thing that might be holding you up from afar, but if you have them properly cabled together you're almost there. Look in Control Panel for the Network Setup Wizard.

Actually the Comp USA cable was $2.99 and here is one for $1.96.  I doubt if you will get rich selling them on Ebay.;)

The shipping on the Comp USA was $2.99, but don't think it would be worth it at the price of the second one!

No cd burner on the AH machine ? It's easy as pie if you got one with WinXP .
