that's ALL computer generated btw, none of that is a real photo. i made the background using terragen, first try. it didn't come out totally as i wanted, but i still thought it looked purty :)

well an idiot like me figured it out in ten mins ;)

go to planetside.co.uk terragen is a free download. that there is nothing compared to what you CAN do, i just don't know how yet :)

that sunrise took about 20 minutes to make from installation, so it isn't bad, fairly simple to pick up and go :)

it's the angle ( and the contrast/brightness of pic), I can make out the left horizontal stabilizer/elevator  overlaying the left wing............

nice  pic Biggles........

thanks for the comments all :) glad you like it :)

i'm a total noob at this, but i just signed up at screenshotart.com and some of the guys there have already kindly given me some tips. have started on a pony diving through the clouds now :)

this is quite addictive getting it right actually lol, i can see this being a lot of fun :)

next i'll have to figure out how to put some real formations in the pic :)

if anyone ever feels like starring in a picture, i could always use a few decent formation fliers :)

forgive my dumbness, but did you start with a screenshot and fix it up, or did you just insert planes into a background you created?
Title: Corsairs at Dawn
Post by: Major Biggles on January 28, 2007, 01:41:16 PM
stuck the planes on a backgorund lagger :)

i've been given a lot of tips by some guys at screenshotart.com which is awesome. i'm working on a pony vs 109K4 fight up in the clouds atm, trying to make it look good :)

It would be a perfect desktop if the Corsairs were positioned off to the right...(So u wouldn't have to re-position your Windows clickables)

Nice pictures.

That reminds me of the fact that if there's one thing in AH that is technically, visually, and absolutely sub-par when compared to a variety of other games, its how they handle the water.

Frankly, the "animated water" option is a complete flop. I can't understand how such an aesthethically ugly display can take up so much system resource.

If there's room for improvement, its definately how the water is portrayed.

Post by: Major Biggles on January 29, 2007, 02:08:07 AM
yup, water is definitely ancient technology in this game :D

ps can you make a formation of 26's with the 3'rd Raptor skin flying in formation about 5k up over a hill.

Thanx man, great job. Really

Pony can lose, as long as its not one with a red nose.

Then it would have to win :)

its got a bit of red in it, its got to win!

all the 51 images i see the 51 is being gunned, even the HTC depiction :furious

unless these are the only images you can get, then it will have to do, looks so beautiful id still use it  :huh

ok, latest work:

i've been fiddling with dodge and burn, which i think i got done quite well with this pic. one problem i did have was getting the prop right. i had nothing to compare it to, so i don't feel like i've got it right, but it's been good practise ofr me, and hopefully i'll get better fairly quickly :)

anyway, here it is, it's not prize winning, and i'm unhappy with the prop, but i still think it's a nice shot :)

has anyone in AH ever done anything like these before?

i'd really appreciate any advice with techniques and things, perhaps the skinners might know a thing or two? i'm having quite a lot of fun with this, definitely going to do more :)

If not...do you have any pics saved from the non-registered version?

This is someting i slammed together for the sake of what i am refering.

This is the "Render Image" selection result.

Is this normal?

Is the 3D version the only one that produces the finished product?
Title: Corsairs at Dawn
Post by: Major Biggles on February 01, 2007, 01:39:42 PM
AHHHH, terragen!

thought you were talking about photoshop.

there is a detail slider just underneath the preview picture in terragen. slide it to the right, THEN render. yuo can use the preview button to view your terrain before rendering it in high quality

Post by: SkyChimp03 on February 01, 2007, 03:01:20 PM
Yes that is normal but..... Look down before you render and see render quality the higher the quality less pixelish it looks (more realistic). I'm been fooling with terragen since 04:D

If I am not mistaken, the name in the lower right is a "famous" model box art guy, and this is his work

I did blend the edges to make a desktop out of it 1024x768 if anyone is interested.
