Hiya All!
I have a Celery 300 o/c to 450 with a NVidia TNT2. I was running 30ish FPS in 1020. Then I d/l'ed the Hi-Res artwork and my FPS went to 20. So I reduced my video to 800 and now my FPS is back up to 30.
But, I have a harder time reading the gauges and like the 1020 better. So is there an easy way to uninstall the hi-res artwork or turn it off?

I believe you just delete a particular file from you AH directory. (Check the readmes.)
I'm guessing it's hires.tex. Try renaming it and see if that doesn't do it.

Dune,
Are you running in 32 bit color?
I have the same setup, and I find that 32 bit color is good for a 10-15 frame drop in fps. Before deleting the hi-res artwork (really makes the cockpits and gauges look better) try using 16 bit color. I did and my frame rates stays in the 40's and I don't really notice a differance in the appearance of the sim.

What TNT2 card do you have? I'm using a Viper v770 ultra on a celeron 466. At 1024 res, 32 bit color, I get at least 60 fps + most of the time.
You might try Direct X 7a (not the same as 7.0) and using a different driver version.
My TNT2 card only loses AT MOST 2 fps going from 16 bit to 32 bit. I can notice a big difference in lighting effects and the terrain between 16 and 32 bit.
