Ever play Silent Hunter 3?
One thing I really enjoyed about SH3 was the 'ruler/compass tool' that
was available in tactical map screen. You know, you could "anchor" at
a certain point on the map, and then draw a line with a 'ruler' tool...
and put in multiple lines as many as you want...
I was thinking about this ruler tool. Especiallu when I'm using buffs,
planning a good flight course is always very important. According to
the direction of approach a bomber can go into a much more effective
bombrun - for example, when you approach a Vehicle field from North-
South direction, you have a bombing course which can knock all three
hangars with a single pass.
Now, some of the mor experienced players may be able to set the
perfect plane heading with their eyes ony, but for me, every time I up
a buff and approach my target, following the planned course, there are
always some differences between my flight heading and the actual
direction of the target.
If we only had a "ruler" tool, which we can use to "draw" in multiple
straight lines, then it could be so much more easy to plane a great
flight course. Especially if the 'angle' of the lines drawn shows its exact
heading.
If this is possible, then I can draw a line on the clipboard map so I can
visually confirm my exact course of travel. All I have to do is follow the
line I drew with my plane icon on the map, match the direction of travel,
and then planning a flight course would become so easy and cool.
I mean, we already have a similar functioning 'draw line' tool. When you
plan a course of the task group you can 'draw in' some lines on the map.
So please, can we get a modified version of this "ruler tool", so we can
use it to draw line on the map? :)

i mentioned something similar to this a while back, not even one response. i still like the idea though :aok

I like it. Helps plan out bombing missions, because I like to hit my targets in one pass.

can we still update way points mid mission?
If so then all we really need for this is the compass heading of the way point selected or as you draw it appear on the clip board.
AW had a similar relationship between way points and compass headings.
In AW when you reached a way point the game would report via the text line what the next heading was to the next way point.

this would be a good idea also as a lot ofguys up bufs and go afk for a little if the auto pilot follows the predraw route it would be a good thing.
also how about auto gunners on buffs when we are afk to stop the sneaky buggers getting easy kills
