Title: Mouse and joystick 4 sec. lag?
Post by: JimC on March 21, 2000, 01:16:00 AM
I just bought a athlon 650 and a epox 7kxa
also have 256 meg ram and CL TNT,DX-7a, everything works, game loads and plays, but right from the start, just to click the "offline" button takes some doin as my mouse has about a 4 to 5 second lag, once in the game joystick is the same. Any Ideas?

Thanks
Jim

Do it again but after clicking "offline", when you get a response back do a ctrl-alt-del (ONCE!) to see what you might have running on the PC that might be running and causing a delay.

Did this just start happening?  Have you tried rebooting your box since it began?  Also, what is your framerate counter showing when you're in the game?

It's not the game, does it in other games too.
Yes it just started doin it...FR is 20 in tower & on the strip, but goes up in the air to around 30-35.I think its a "inDirect-X" problem..this is my first Athlon/Via/TnT set-up..I think maybe a reload of the system is in order.

That might be a good idea JimC, I just installed a Athlon 700, Epox 7KXA motherboard, and a GeForce, which should be very similar to your system and mine is running just fine.

I didn't do a clean install (wanted too, didn't want the hassle), and during the first couple of days had to erase many of the system drivers and reinstall them.

Of course now my system probably isn't running as fast as it could, but more than enough.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Good Luck with yours.

2 things to check..

Is you card AND your motherboard bios set to use AGP x4 instead of x2?  If I remember correctly a lot of the TNT2 cards have a jumper on them that allows you to change the AGP speed.  I'll look at my other game machines card (TNT2 Ultra 32meg Diamond V770) once I get home.

If I turn "off" v-synch in the properties of my video card I get the super slow mouse effects in AH menus.  I can duplicate this everytime.  I'm not sure if it happened in other games or not but it AH it was a major pain in the ass.

I also "seemed" to get more rubber bullets in AH when I had the v-synch turned off.
