Title: Bomber Gun Position/All guns firing
Post by: DREDger on January 30, 2007, 12:54:31 PM
When in bombers, and you switch to a particular gun position, I believe you are always in the center bomber.  I think there is a way to switch to say a drone airplane in the same gun postion?

Also, someone told me and I forgot how, there is a key you can press which makes all guns visible on a target fire on the target.

For example, if you are in the tail gun position and a con is diving high and at a diagonal.  The actual guns that could fire are rear, top and left waist gunner lets say.  Is there a key you press so that all these guns will be firing at the target, as opposed to say, just the tail guns firing?

Gunners can switch between drones, pilots are however it seems stuck in one plane. Which only makes sense if you think about it.

As to all the guns firing, I think you'll find if your using a joystick trigger that they do all fire. If you use the keyboard keys, Fire All = F, fire secondary = B.

If the trigger on your joystick is set to fire the primary, do you have to press the button mapped to fire the secondary to get all guns on the bombers to fire?

You can switch to the same gun position in a different bomber with Ctrl-1, Ctrl-2 and Ctrl-3.

Ctrl-1 = Lead plane
Ctrl-2 = Left plane (I think)
Ctrl-3 = Right plane

To fire all the guns that are able to shoot at a target, use the N key.

Or the fire all button mapped to your joystick.

And that's what I've done - main trigger fires all, second trigger fires one plane only.

You can use the profile mapping function to have different programming for the joystick depending on the situation. For example, you could have one setup for fighters, another for GVs and a third for bombers.

Time ago we can map different functions on one button using "general"/"vehicle"/"gunner"/etc modes within single set. I always use 3 near identical sets with different functions for two fire buttons - for fighters, fighters with big gun and bombers/jabo, any set works fine in GV. Now i need 4th set for GV only. Recently i realize what i shoot only one gun at time in bomber's gun position because my "bomber/jabo" set has "fire primary" mapped on trigger. So i need to switch set to shoot then switch it again to drop bombs, switch back to defend myself... Nice.

HTC replaced flexible and handy (but complicated for setup may be) mapping system by very limited but easy to setup. Its a shame.

Yes, i can live with it but... its a shame anyway.
