Well i've been flying for about 4 or 5 days now and keep running into the same problem. My computer some times will lock up and other times will just crash and reboot itself. The interesting thing to me is when it happens. What i mean is that if i am just starting the computer up after having been shut down for a while i can fly for a good hour before it will happen, but if i were to just go straight into the game while the computer has been on a while, i usually last about 1 sortie and then it does it. It will keep doing it every sortie or so. So i don't know if its something in game that is occuring causing the restart or perhaps a temperature problem. As far as i know all my drivers are up to date. I tried removing some hardware that i don't need to clear up some IRQ conflicts, that didn't work. There are some conflicts still but i do not know how to fix those. Any help would be appreciated.

Well i tried shutting down some background processes thinking maybe the machine was just getting bogged down, but on my first sortie i got up went into a furball, got on an F6 and right when i was going to shoot my system restarted.
My system specs are:
Radeon 9600
AMD Athelon XP 2500
NVIDIA nForce Audio, onboard
1gb ram
Not sure what else you might need to help, but let me know because i would like to keep playing after my 2 weeks is up.

wrong video Drivers .
These work the best on the 9xxx series ati cards
http://www.omegadrivers.net/archive.php (http://www.omegadrivers.net/archive.php)
look for the
Radeon Omega Drivers 2.5.97a (Catalyst 4.12)
Or swap your video drivers to the 4.12 cat's
another helpfull thing to do if possiable is to up this
Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
To a higher hz if your monitor will support it .. this gives you a better frame rate
I run at 85 hz cause i cant handle the flicker of 60hz (i cant even focus on a monitor @ 60hz)
also turn sound excelleration down one notch in windows . You may get sound loop problems in game if you dont ... (but then your on newer nforce drivers then me so you maybe fine )
-
Dropped acceleration down to standard and installed the drivers. When i first started AH shut itself down saying that it encountered an error. I restarted the program and was able to fly a couple sorties with no problem and actually a better fps than i had been getting around a lot of smoke and fire on airfields and also around a lot of action. I will play some more tomorrow and see how well it holds up. I appreciate the help, will post any more problems i may have.
Thanks,
Cody

So it worked fine for a while, was able to fly a couple of sorties. Got into a bomber a couple minutes ago and took off with a large group of B24s and as i was climbing for alt the computer restarted. Any other ideas as to what i can do to fix it?
Cody
Been playing some more since i posted the original at 1738, was able to get through a couple bomber sorties, but it rebooted on me again.
-
How old is the computer? I think they stopped making that MB in 2003, but I could be wrong.
The reason I ask is if you have never had the fans and CPU/Video heatsinks cleaned you most likely are having temperature problems. Especially if it's a tower case sitting on the floor. (Exactly what you describe happened to me) When you run AH your system is running at 100% and generates a lot of heat.
-
Yep, clean your fans & if possible install another one near your video card. Basic pc fans are cheap and there is usually an extra plug out of your power supply to plug it into. Aim it towards your vid. card to help with some extra cooling. Even if this doesn't help your problem, it's still a good idea and a cheap but worthwhile investment.
-
It is an older computer and i opened it up yesterday and it was fairly dirty, so ill give that a try.
Cody
-
Well i cleaned it top to bottom, left the box open and pointed a 20 inch fan straight into it and it crashed after a couple sorties. It crashed while i was alone at a base a good ways from the fight. So i don't think the video card was being overwhelmed. Anyway, any other suggestions?

heres my dxdiag so you can compare , mines a 2500+ Mbarton overclocked to 2.4 on a asus a7n8x-e dlx mainboard ,and a 9600 pro card , Water cooled .
I dont remember if ive got the 4.27 international Nforce drivers on it or the set befor that ... but which ever it is it works like a swiss watch in Aces High .
I run the Hires pack and 1024 textures.
you may not have cleaned out the drivers good enough befor the 4.12's went in ... or have something going on with the Nforce drivers thats causing the crash.
