What does the Grand Old Party need to do to ensure that there is not a socialist lesbian occupying the White House in January of 2009?

Fight on their own grounds.  On all the elections from 1994-2004 the republicans fought a war they could win, and the democrats fought them on their ground.

In 2004, the democrats started a war they would win, and instead of following the original plan and doing it the old way, they tried to beat the democrats on their turf.

it needs to do nothing except for it's members to not be involved in any scandals.  the democrats will alienate themselves out of all national level political power within the next twelve months or so.  The NRA and other powerful conservative organizations have already amassed a war chest of biblical proportions.

It would be nice if they promised to lower taxes on the middle class and everyone...  It would be nice if they promised to veto any new firearms laws that took away the right of the people to keep and bear arms and it would be nice if they clearly outlined their plans for iraq and what they would consider victory...

Vouchers, or at least a start in that direction for school would be good..  The teachers will never vote for a republican in any case.    

Vow to arrest and imprison any employer who knowingly hires illegal aliens from the biggest corporation down to the beverly hills trophy wife.

promise to cut back the size of government (less the military) by 5% at least a year.

Start a realistic program to make us energy independent...  a billion dollar prize for a 80% efficient solar panel that can be built for $500 for a 4' x 8' panel...  build nukes... explore for oil anywhere we can and give tax breaks to do it.

Laz,

That will never happen in our lifetimes. You know the demos are not going to support any of that. Even the oil drilling will be anathema to them given the latest symposium on global warming. They will not be looking for more oil. Oil is our enemy even more so than al q, bin laden and radical islam combined. Gotta stop them ebil green house gases ya know.

Between the newly discovered Gulf of Mexico oil fields and the newly opened Alaskan fields we are sitting pretty for the next 50 years or so. I think Lazs2 hit it on the head.

Find someone that will energize their voters more than the socialist lesbian. Duh.
