Title: Make DVD's work from PC to DVD player
Post by: Meatwad on February 03, 2007, 09:59:57 PM
Just got me a new DVD-RW drive for the computer. As of right now I am trying to put some shows onto a DVD to play on the dvd player for the television.

I have PowerProducer as the software to do this, but it apparently dont work too good as the first disc wouldnt play on tv. Is there any recomendations on an easier way to do this?

I may be wrong in this, but you have to check as to what kind of DVD's your player does play.  There are many different kinds of DVD's, and not all writers do them all, nor do all readers read them all.

Meat it also depends on what format you are burning.  If your software is converting it into DVD  (actually creating TS and VOB files) and such.

Give a little more specifics as to what you are puting on the DVD.

If you burn an AVI/WMV/MPEG strait to DVD most older DVD players will not play these.  Alot of the newer ones will though.

The file is in AVI format, but the dvd player itself is pretty new in technology standards (I hope). As of right now I am going to try Nero and see what happens

Found software to convert from avi to whatever dvd's take. currently converting a test file and then will try nero on it

What Dred said.

Much like a regular Cd where you can make it an Audio CD or a Data CD, the same applies to DVD's.

You can't just copy files onto the DVD, because then it will act as a Data DVD.

There's a specific process to create a video DVD.

I finally figured it out, tuns out it was set to burn at Hi-Def as defualt. Now just have to figure out how to get it to size correctly as the shows seem stretched out on tv

Its at 4:3, it doesnt have an option for wide screen mode apparently unless you "buy" a better version of the software instead of what came bundled with the drive

I'm getting ready to buy one of these and avoid the burning/converting process alltogether.
