WOOT Touchdown on the opening kick off! 1st time ever... !
Bears!
-
they can't do that, they are the underdogs or underbears or something.
-
GO BEARS!
-
oh yea Go Bears !!!
-
I HATE the Bears ( they picked on my Saints) - Go Colts!
Those first few possessions were wild. Manning is looking better now.
And it stays wild. Back to back fumbles again!
-
Looks like this game is gonna be known as the Fumble Bowl
Prince? for the halftime show??
How lame
-
Any halftime more than fifteen minutes long just kills the game.
Whats next a football game halfway thru the academy awards
-
Yeah this Water Bowl has been pretty entertaining.
All the turnovers happen in twos.

Loved the halftime show. They got an artist to come out and actually play and sing live in the pouring rain instead of dancing around to pre-recorded tracks like usually happens. Prince is one of the more talented musicians you or I will ever see.
-
That was my first time seeing Prince perform and I'll say that I was happy with it, considering I hardly ever watch half time or the commercials.
-
They need to change the rule so successful challenges don't count against the 2 challenge limit per half. The line judge closest to the play made the correct call and the fool back judge comes and overturnes it. It costs the Colts a challenge to fix the idiot back judges call. How does the ref with the worse view overturn the guy right on the play???
-
go away bears. take your fans with you. it's going to take us a month to get the bear funk out of the stadium.
-
wtg bears, what an awsome QB :P
didnt realise colts had such good defensive backs, or is that grossman making them look good?

Gaaak, what?
Next you gonna tell us that Grossman is the best quarterback in the NFL today?
I happen to think Prince is a overrated hack who can't sing and is approaching Michael Jackson in the strange department.

As Dandy Don used to sing...
Turn out the lights
The party's over..
Go Colts
Go Peyton, Nawlins favorite son!
Who's going to be the MVP? Not Manning for sure. Defensive player I'd guess.

Guess that all depends what your idea of talent is.
Personally I think he sucks. Always did.

On the upside. "Da Bears" lost :aok

Dandy Don and Howard are good memories - long ago memories! But good :)

I wonder who will QB for the Bears next year..... It sure as heck better not be Rexie. Lovie Smith saw the warning signs all year and flat refused to do anything about it. After an off season of being ridiculed in the media he better change his tune.
And yes Dago, Prince is one of the better musicians of our lifetime. He performs with fire and passion which is something sorely lacking in modern music. Yeah, he's weird, but he's talented. Can play just about any instrument too, and not just noodling. Flat out playing... And if you want to compare him to Michael Jackson I think that's fine. Before MJ got all cooky he was a heckuva singer. The Jackson 5 stuff really showed a lot of feel in his vocals.
-
Congratulations Baltimore Colts!! :aok Superbowl Champs!

Well I don't think the Dr Pepper in front of me has enough kick for hallucinations, but you never know.
Musical opinions differ which is a good thing. If everyone liked the same styles my job would be awfully boring.

Chicago Tribune headline should be.....
Bears Offense was Gross, man!!!!!

To start with, Prince is not a great musician, but that is my opinion, and music appreciation is pretty much a subjective issue, and my opinion is all I care about.
And, I never said Michael Jackson can't sing, I said Prince can't sing. Bloody well awful. MIcheal Jackson is a Pavoratti compared to Prince.
BTW, an awful lot of high school band directors can play many instruments well, that doesn't qualify them as music stars, or as great musicians.
-
I think the problem is that our definitions of great don't match. To me a great singer or musician is one that can express gut wrenching feel with an instrument/voice. I don't care if notes or flubbed or if the playing/singing gets sloppy. If the feel is there it's on in my opinion. That's why I really like a lot of the old blues recordings. Not technically the greatest players or singers, but can convey more emotion with one note than Steve Vai or Joe Satriani can with a thousand.
That's what I like about Prince. The energy and feel of the song translates well to my ear. I felt the performance tonight and that's all I'm looking for out of any music.
-
HELLO we talkin football, you american idol Prince/Jackson lovers start your own thread.

(he is a prolific song writer though...)

Dandy Don Merideth was a great old school football player, and a well informed and entertaining commentator. Anyone that plays in the ice bowl with pneumonia, and makes Howard Cosell tolerable has got to be an all time great.
Evidently Prince doesn't express himself all that well, I've never figured out the point behind what he calls "music".
-
I still remember Cosell and Meredeth getting smashed during a Philly game and setting Keith Jackson's pants on fire. :rofl :rofl :rofl
-
Or Don drunk and sayin "Shut up Howard"

We did talk football.
Da Bears are still the worst 13-3 team in NFL history just like I said they were.
what else is there to talk about?;)

I remember seeing an interview where
Al Michels once said Maredeth was the main cause if him (Micheals) disliking country music LOL

Just got home with all my snacks...whens the game start?
-
The Weak Link strikes twice in the 2nd half. Bummer for Bears fan. :rofl
-
How many games did the officials cost you this year Rip? Was it all 8 losses?
-
The Bears played about as expected (at least by me). Grossman played as expected, and the defense, suffering in the latter half of the season, played the best it could (which wasn't good enough without having an offense on the field).
The organization stuck with Grossman as the future "franchise" QB instead of switching to the backup Griese many games ago, who has much less potential longevity for the team but would have provided better average play and maybe even led to a superbowl win instead of a loss. They had a shot this year but it seemed they were thinking more down the road at the expense of this game. "Well, if we lose this one we'll just win the next one or the one after that..." Good luck.
IMO Gorssman wasn't ready to start this year, and may never be ready to serve as a solid, confident QB. His smug little overated face just pisses me off.

The Bears have already proven you dont need a QB to get to the superbowl. Now if only they could figure out how to get a placeholder that will follow instructions and not get delusions of granduer. WTF is going through Grossman's head? You'd almost think he believes he can throw the ball. As if he hasn't had enough evidence to the contrary, he had to ruin their shot at the Superbowl with his idocy as well? I think the fans of Chicago should take him out behind the stadium and give him some old fashioned lessons in taking orders. Moron. He personally cost the Bears the game all by himself. I hope he's proud of his performance.

No. But I dont pretend to be an NFL quarterback either. He should stop pretending to be one himself.

The Colts are no longer in Baltimore?! :huh
When did they move the franchise?
-
Actually Baltimore moved to Indianapolis and Cleveland moved to Baltimore.
This was just after Los Angeles moved to St Louis when St Louis moved to Phoenix. Sometime around there Oakland moved back to Oakland after having moved to Los Angeles.
This was well after Brooklyn moved to Los Angeles and New York moved to San Francisco, but I am not sure whether Quebec moved to Denver before or after Minnesota moved to Dallas and Hartford moved to Tampa... or did Hartford go to Carolina? Where did Winnepeg move to?
-
I think they moved Baltimore.
Dunt worry Shuckins. My Wife moved my car the other day, and I called the cops to report it stolen. Imagine how silly I looked when they show up and the car is in the driveway. Last place I would have looked for it.
Uh,..that was a pretty freaky seguay.

any way you slice it he's a world class athlete. young and inexperienced perhaps but world class none the less. he's not pretending to be anything. he's a professional football player who did the best he could on one given sunday and came up second best in the league. go read roosevelt's quote in widewing's sig line.

That's highly debatable, from someone who's watched him play in every game this season. He's a better athlete than a non athlete for sure. Compared to his peers he's below average. He had some very good games early on, and he's had some very bad games -- 0 QB rating games. And, a number of "his" wins were in fact won by the defense or special teams in spite of Rex doing his best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
In pressure situations he tends to fold like a house of cards, making very poor decisions and trying to win the game with his magic arm and magic plays that more often than not simply and easily fall into the hands of some defender, underthrown in double coverage. And as the injuries mounted over the season the pressure only increased. He also has a public attitude that suggests he believes he far better than his record indicates, and that his skeptics are just "ignorant."
He may very well turn into an adequate NFL QB, but I say that's at best a flip of the coin. "World class" is not something that I think can be even remotely added to his mantle at this point.
Frankly though, it's not Rex's fault. The real finger pointing should be (and is) directed at the coaching staff and/or the back office for trying to push him along too soon. To be perfectly honest, for myself and a great many here in Chicago, his play in the Superbowl was hardly a surprise.

My take on Grossman is he's the kind of athlete that plays best when he has something personal to lose, i.e. his job. Lovie didn't do him any favors by standing staunchly behind him as Rex's season fell apart.
That leaves Chicago with a problem; do you come out next year with Rex as "the man", or do you make him earn it back? Me, I totally agree with something Peter King (Sports Illustrated, love his stuff) said; the Bears are only missing one key piece for a championship- how long can they wait for Rex to mature? Looking at it from a Bears' (not Grossman) perspective, I would grab Jeff Garcia as a free agent and see what he could do. Garcia is not great, but he is far more consistant AND has playoff experience. And let's face it; a mediocre day from Rex may have been enough to win. Manning sure didn't put up Pro Bowl numbers.
The one thing Chicago absolutely could not afford to have happen was a Grossman meltdown.
-
Hey, you guys wanna trade Grossman for Carr?
At least Grossman attempts some downfield throws.

He reminds me of former Giants QB Dave Brown
