The Kalamazoo Air Zoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan, is having an open cockpit month. I'm pretty sure this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many of us. For the first two weeks you get to sit in a Stearman PT-17 and a few other trainers (no T-6/SNJ Texan, unfortunately). For the second week, you get to sit in a Republic P-47 Thunderbolt, a Hispano Buchon (one of the Spanish license-built Messerschmitt Me-109s used in the movie Battle of Britain), and a Bell P-39 Airacobra.
I'm so excited I can think about little else. I'm going to get to sit in a Juggernaut and an Me-109 (even if it's got an Allison instead of a BMW)! The P-39 is a bonus. Nothing short of an act of God is going to keep me away from that museum, I think. The Air Zoo also has all of the usual goodies found in an air museum. Here's the internet site for those of you who can make the drive.

I'm ecstatic right now. I feel as if I have spent a wonderful day with a lovely lady - no, I feel even better than that.
Since I got hardly sleep at the inn, I'm going to crash now and post pictures and enthusiastic monologues tomorrow. I already talked my family's ears off.
