Title: Fool a dvd player?
Post by: x0847Marine on February 05, 2007, 06:15:49 AM
I got a few Academy award consideration dvds...they look real bad on my notebook, but just great using a stand alone dvd player.

Any sharpie trick or somefece that'll get the sucker to play on my computer? Its got to be some chicken-spackle DRM

I've had the best luck by buying the cheapest crappy no-name DVD on sale.  One no-name brand that cost $29.95 turned out to give me great 480p output, was region free, and would play mp3s and divx-encoded videos from dvd or cd data discs.

Win xp, but it fixed itself, kinda. My dang external drive with mandrake bit the big one.

WMP 11 playback was a wierd split screen view that was askew.. installed Cyberlink power dvd and viola!

ot: theres is/was a rumor going around the actor-freak circle that these promotional dvds had some sneaky new drm funk..  btw The Departed and little miss sunshine were actually not as terrible as most over produced hollywierd flicks.

ty for the replies.
