...against an assault by his son, Griffin.
In a family dispute gone wrong, Ryan fired a handgun while being menaced by a fireplace poker wielding Griffin. No one was hurt, and Griffin was detained by the police.
Hey Lasz....wonder what Ryan's "official" "Hollywood" position is on gun-control?

chalk one score up for the gun control crowd

I belong to the "Gun Control Crowd"
Deep breath
Let half of it out
Achive proper sight alignment
SQUEEZE the trigger
Wash rinse repeat however it sounds like this guy doesn't understand these little "tips" because he MISSED. Of course it was his son so he was probably just trying to scare him but it all goes back to the old addage "don't pull a gun unless you plan to kill what's in front of you"

Not true. Griffin took a swing at his dad with the poker and missed and struck his pregnant girlfriend in the head. She was hospitalized.

Point is... a gun was used to prevent a crime... nashwan should take note not me.
It seems to me that without the gun this could have turned into a double homicide at least. the girlfriend would have to have been killed to cover up.
Ryan oneil was a former boxer and in pretty good shape for a 65 year old but.. a 42 year old druggie with a club is pretty hard for an old man to take.
nashwan would have liked to have seen a different outcome.
nashwan would relegate ryan and all of us to helpless victims.
You can't really comprimise with nashwans position and you can't help but think of nashwan as the enemy.

I don't just "think of them as the enemy," they are the enemy. Everyone who believes in gun control means me great harm.

Triple, actually...since the GF is pregnant.

Nice catch! However, to the liberals, it is not murder; it's termination of an unborn foetus.

End this thread.
This is another Hollywood freek that will go to rehab and not get charged. Waist of time.

From the little bit I have read about it , he shouldn't be charged with anything.

these are the kind of incidents where a gun is used to prevent a crime and no one is shot.

Famous people always get away with stuff like this unless its really big. That NASA Ladie that went to space not long ago went to go kill or hurt someone and I think she went threw an airport security and they didn't even check her because she was a famous person who went to Space. She just walked on in with a BB gun, pepper spray, and other stuff. I don't know the full story as I saw this morning and was on a rush to get to school on time and beat the slow traffic.

Post the addresses of all the folks against guns..... that way folks who wish to protect themselves wont have to draw their own guns. All the criminals will know the safe places to rob, murder and rape.

That's quite an amazing spin. Tomorrow she'll have actually carried out this supposed kidnapping, taken her victim into outer space and shoved her out the air lock.
On topic: That can't have been easy for O'Neal to pull a gun on his own son. I think I'd rather die than to have to do that.

Yeah, that seems to be a point being overlooked in the interest of beating a dead horse of an issue.

You should read a little more before you start posting opinions on the matter. She was never on a plane, she drove from Houston to Orlando. Actually wore a diaper to keep from having to stop to pee. The woman she was after was the one on the plane!

Here where I live, the local newspaper wanted to post the names and addresses of all of those who have personal protection permits, just because it's a matter of public record. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!
Want to know where to steal a gun, just look in the paper.

No I knew she drove there from Houston to Orlando, I didn't know why. I do know. Shes in love with another Astronat and got jealous of his G-Friend and drove there to kill her. From what I heard she went into the airport, went threw security because they knew who she was, then followed the girl to her car and started going nuts. The facts are still not out as the media is just throwing stuff in our heads. For all I know she could have gone there to that girl because she had bad cramps.

chickenhawk... it is not easy to pull a gun on anyone.
A lot of people can't even imagine it.. they don't have the will or guts to. That is why they fear guns so much.. they don't want others to be able to do what they don't have the courage or moral fortitude to do themselves.
When those of strong moral fiber or courage do so it simply makes those who fear guns feel even more guilty. It is a very dishonest position in most cases. In some cases it is just a matter of ignorance tho... I will grant that.

Don't get me wrong. I have no qualms about taking out someone posing an immediate and lethal threat to me or my family. I just don't think I could do the same to my son, no matter what the situation.
I think a lot of people reading this story focus on the guy with the poker being a half crazed druggy and forget that he is a son and a father was put in a very difficult position. This is more about a family tragedy than anything else.
-
Ok, I'd like a bit of info here.
Who's house did this happen in?
What forced the son to pick up the poker and use it as a weapon?
What was the "difficult position" the son was put in to use a weapon on his own family members?
I haven't followed this hollywierd situation so I'm curious what the situation really was.
-
who knows mav but the point is that the guy was trying to brain a 65 year old man with a fireplace poker... a very deadly weapon.. he did not stop even after hitting a pregnant woman in the head.
I believe the incident happened in the victims house tho since he got a gun from the bedroom.
