Its official, we've set a new town record with todays snowfall- 57 inches in just under 12 hours. If I had a digital camera I'd post some pics, but alas I'm behind the technology curve. But heres a few from local news sources...
Heres what we had a few town over as of about 7 last night...
Another local town- got less snow than we did, but a lot more wind, so the drifting was worse.
About 15 miles south of where I live, got about 15 inches less. Lake effect snow is real screwy like that.

The same town as above, this is what it looked like her for about 8 hours this morning.
And its been cold enough to freeze one of the local waterfalls solid.

Ths is the local radar- that big blue band has been drifting back and forth from the canadian border down to Syracuse and back since Friday.

And about 2 weeks ago we had grass showing, and a month ago it was in the 60s.

winter was running late due to the hot air being exhaled by Global warming scientists.:aok
-
About 3 weeks ago we set the record for a low temp. in Tucson. It got to 20 degrees at the airport, which is usually a bit warmer than the rest of town. Later that same wekk we got about 2 inches of snow.
Yesterday and today it got up to 80 and I'm running the AC. Go figure.....
-
Thank Goodness we have Global Warming, or you'd REALLY be cold!
-
You live in Fulton or Oswego?
I lived in Central Square for 7 years.
Now I live in Baldwinsville.
-
We got nailed here in Buffalo too

You do realize why they are having lake effect snow this late in the season right?
-
Lucky bastages! We're supposed to have more snow Thursday and Friday, right as it all started to melt:D Contrary to 85% of the Colorado population I do quite enjoy the snow.

You sound like me and my area.
I love to hear people whine. "Oh I hope it doesnt snow I hate the snow"
To which I look them dead square in the eye and tell them in all seriousness.
"Then why the hell are you living here? This is the north, Its wintertime. Its SUPPOSED to snow. If you dont like the snow then you should move someplace warmer, Like Florida, Or better yet Cuba.
I will never understand why people who whine about snow STAY and LIVE in an area where it snows!
Dont just complain about it.
Migrate man, migrate. Migrate the hell out of here."
They usually dont really like that. But hell, as soon as they start whining about the snow, they might as well have a "kick me" sign hanging around their neck.
and invariably whenever I go into that routine and a crowd is around. there is always someone else who agres with me that chimes in with a "Thats right"
Which usually shuts the recipient up. albeit a bit redfaced.
And I get a good chuckle

yep.. we will probly not hear about "man made global warming" for at least a few months.... If we have three big winters and a couple of mild summers in a row...
the whole "man made global warming" lie will just collapse....
I was around for the 1976 "global ice age" scare... 3 good summers and the panic mongers and hand wringing chicken littles couldn't get even women to worry any more.

Because we live on the eastern edge of a Great Lake right in the path of the prevailing winds?
We get lake effect from October to March, warm weather has nothing to do with it. In fact most of our worst storms come in March or even early April when Lake Ontario is at its coldest.

Possibly because it's Winter???? Maybe because El Nino has changed the track of the jetstream so that we got snow in Tucson along with some very cold temperatures?

Yep, like the rest said. Winter :rofl
I predict, through scientific research, that's it's gonna be warm in Summer also.
Mark this date so you can reference it, cause I'll be right.

Well, we are currently up to 78 inches and still rising, next town over has over 85 and counting. I'm on vacation and have spent the first 4 days shoveling and snow blowing, I can't even get out of town because they have declared a state of emergency and closed down all roads to unnecessary travel.
This is getting REAL old, REAL fast.

was 74 here last three days and sunny
-
we had 2 inches of snow in london today, it was very cool, london never gets snow...
-
All this snow kinda reminds me of the Battle of the Bulge. It was said to be one of the coldest winters in history for Europe besides all of the Ice Ages.
-
half of lake Erie is frozen over, that must be a local effect of global warming.
-
I dont mind snow, even if it's feet deep. It's the cold that bothers me.
Here it's so cold that exposed flesh hurts.

I was watching the Weather Channel for 30 min tonight. You folks are getting hammered! Wish you the best, stay warm!
We're going skiing tomorrow night, but no snow forecast (120" base though).
-
Yeah you start to get cabin fever so you just hope you have plenty of stuff to munch on so when the roads do somewhat clear up you aren't in the rush with a ton of other people fearing for their well being in the near future. I remember after the big storm here before Christmas hardly anyone was prepared, next snow forecast the grocery stores were cleaned out.
I just hope your streets aren't as bad as ours were (still are to an extent).
-
LOL storch I hear that alot too. But, I must say when I was young I loved it. Now..eh..I can take a little, but I dont like to see alot. I think those that work in it, rather than just play in it probably like it more. As for moving I really cant, as I have too much invested in this area, plus I want to be near my family. I guess I like snow better in Dec, and have it go away than to get dumped on in March or April and have it last till May.

Usually the lakes are frozen over by mid January and the lake effect machine is reduced at it's source.
-
 :huh
What lakes are you talking about? I've lived on the shore of Lake Ontario for 26 years and its never frozen over, even in the winter of '03-'04 when the whole month of January was about -30F.

that could be fun, cause that 120" base is now probably granular ice with a couple inches powder on top (@least thats what its like on Mt. Helen)

Maybe global warming contributes to an Ice Age? Then again its just winter but didn't last year seem very hot? Here in Oklahoma last year we had little ran and it was always hot. He had so much grass and forest fires. We had a burn ban for like half a year to a year in different parts of the state. This year its been raining or snowing. I just hope its one of those crazy part in time when the weather gets really bad then goes back to normal a few years later.
