Maybe i'm on drugs, its quite possible - but this past weekend we flew into Halfmoon Bay CA and as we were taxiing by, there was a T-hanger off our left wing. INside this T-hanger was the outline of what appeared to be either an LA-5 or LA-7. Sadly I could not get closer to verify, but the cowl and airscoop pattern seemed to match.
Anyone know if this is the bird?

maybe on of those radial engine Yak-3Us?
also u r maybe on drugs

Cowl on that looks pretty damn close. The entire bird wasn't vis - only the frontside facing inside the hanger. Now looking at that birds tail, with SJC (San Jose Jet Center) I think that is the bird.

It might be the La-9

are you sure? there was an FBO at OPA that was called fightertown that hangered a bunch of exotics, usually jets. IIRC they had an La-9 there for a while and I don't believe it was the one owned by the breitling collection. they are no longer at OPA and I don't know where they moved but it was a cool place. I was sorry to see them go. http://www.fitertown.com they claim to still be located in opa-locka but they must be well sequestered and are no longer at the hanger they were before. also we don't see cool aircraft regularly flying in.

Was it Eddie Andreini's Yak-3? (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.tvrphotography.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/thumb_andreini06_yak3u_0131.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.tvrphotography.com/gallery/thumbnails.php%3Falbum%3Dlastup%26cat%3D-141&h=100&w=66&sz=4&hl=en&start=8&tbnid=YcJFLu92ZfqtYM:&tbnh=82&tbnw=54&prev=/images%3Fq%3Deddie%2Bandreini%2Byak%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26rls%3DGFRC,GFRC:2006-49,GFRC:en%26sa%3DN)
Eddie has a Yak-9 out there as well, a red one called Barbarossa. Ron Reed maintains Eddie's aircraft. I know both of those guys and they are both really fine people. Ron has the big yellow hangar down at the end of hangar row. Go in and talk to him and tell him "PT John" sent ya. You'll enjoy chatting with him about the Yaks and may even get some cockpit time. Ron's got his own T-6 and has some P-51 time. Super guy. So is Eddie.

I would had bet on the radial yak too, I saw one in Van Nuyrs 2 years ago being worked on.
