How do you feel about Nancy Pelosi jet setting across the friendly skies in an over the top B757, when the G-III she was offered would more than suffice?
Any outrage?
-
It's outrageous that politicians suck. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFQFB5YpDZE)
-
politicians opt out of social security... they ride around in limmos.. they are protected 24 hrs a day by sub machine gun toting bodyguards.
they have nothing to do with the laws that they pass for us little people to live by.
I would imagine that they don't wear their seatbelts while being driven around either.

For once I think I completely agree with Lazs

It's outrageous that these stories are started with almost no basis in fact.
Nice try though.
-
Are you saying she didn't request a 757?
-
She requested nothing at all. Her staff made an inquiry into the "ride plan" that Hester had since 9/11, and asked about a plane that could make the flight to California non-stop. Republicans took this request and blew it completely out of proportion.
-
So this Pelosi quote is incorrect?
(From ABC)
"It's not a question of size, it's a question of distance," Pelosi said Wednesday. "We want an aircraft that can reach California."
Sure seems she is asking for the 757.
-
I think that she could fly commercial and Hastert should have as well, but I have been told by many that this is the post 9/11 world and that I just dont get it.
Hastert got his own plane post 9/11 for security purposes, so states the article I read.
Non stop is more secure than refueling, so I guess in this era of mitigating all risk no matter what the cost, she needs the big plane.

Is that the only plane available that can go that far non-stop?
-
This is 89th MAW; they can refuel at any military facility. I don't think that's too much of a security risk.
Further, she'll probably get the C-37A/Gulfstream 5 which will make it to SF no problemo. IF it's available; the 99th AS has 4 of them at Andrews.
-
If the C-37A can make the trip it would seem that Pelosi isn't asking for a 757 after all.
I accept your apologies.
-
LOL.
Not just yet, I'm afraid.
I'll wait a bit and see if any more details on the request by Pelosi's staff surface, I think.
It could be a Republican smear/talking point, granted. Wouldn't surprise me.
Nor would I be suprised in the least if a Limo Liberal from SF felt she was entitled to special treatment for herself and her many friends.
Let's let it stew a week and see what rises to the top. Then maybe you'll get an apology. Or maybe not. (Although it's unclear to me why I should apologize; are you against being curious about this stuff?)
-
I just collect 'em... it's a hobby.
-
Maybe I'll start then.
So if it turns out Pelosi wanted the 757 and wanted to give rides to all her many friends for free... will you be apologizing?
-
my sources say the air force provided the last speaker of the house with a C20 ( gulfstream 3) they told her office thats what they have, she said she wants a bigger plane because she has a bigger staff.
the plane she wants cost $10,000 hr to operate.
your tax money at work.
-
why not let her fly commercial? she can take off her shoes and get searched and get to the airport an hour early like everyone else.

Sure, I've got plenty of extra ones from prior neocon blunders.
-
Well, I guess I should have saved all the ones from the Lib-er-uls. I could have paved my road to heck with them by now.
Oh, well... easy come, easy go. It's not like they're hard to find or anything.

this is all BS. G-III can make it D.C.-KSFO with an additional 1,000 some odd miles to spare.
-
yeah, but i bet with the long range fuel it can only carry the flight crew.
LMAO flight crew of four for a small bizjet:lol :lol :lol :lol !!!11
maybe she should request a lockheed constellation or a 707
OMFG i wanna fly my 172 with a flight engineer & a comms nurd in it LMAO...

I am. I do not fly a Gulfsteam, but I am 100% certain a G-III can make the trip.

Not me. I whir up more outrage reading what you guys say than what politician's do.
They have an excuse: money, power, prestige.
We, here, are without excuse. Pardoning those of course who were dropped on their heads when very young.
FWIW, Tony Snow says "get over it" as reported by that bastion of fairness Fox News.
All this is like "did you know he/she had waffles for breakfast!?"
What will the egg producers say???

maybe in perfect conditions, but what about into a 80kt headwind, with a lot of altitude changes for turbulence (& use of the speed brakes to get down to Va for the same reason) then shoot the Cat 3 approach into SFO, go missed due to the notorious SFO fog, fly to Sacramento & land with 45 minutes fuel after having to go around cause tom cruise cut them off on final in his P-51...
-
damn him. damn mr. cruise to hell!
nice 51 though.
