It seems that she believes she's the President. I just caught a report on Fox News that she wants a 757 to travel from Washington, DC to SF Bay area.
Can you say "Relocate" Boys and Girls? Yeah... good. We Relocate when we find a new job, when we have too many warrants in one place or when we testify against the MOB. It means "Moving" Boys and Girls. But that is next weeks word.

Actually, Yeager, the entire Republican organization is to blame. They held the Senate, House and Presidency for six years and accomplished basically nothing in ANY area of importance. Immigration? Zip. A better tax system? Nope. There were NO improvements anywhere.
They had opportunity to lead and they chose to sit on their hands. It really isn't that suprising that they were replaced.

According to the evidence presented at the trial, including the agents' testimony and their statements after the incident, here are the facts: On Feb. 17, 2005, at about 1 p.m., Compean and Ramos were on duty along the U.S.-Mexico border when they observed a suspicious vehicle -- a van that turned out to be loaded with more than 700 pounds of marijuana. The driver -- later identified as Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila -- jumped out of the vehicle and tried to run back into Mexico. Ramos and Compean both testified that they made a point of looking at the suspect's hands and saw no weapon. Compean fired at least 14 rounds and Ramos fired once. Ramos wounded the suspect and saw him limp into Mexico. The agents then collected the shell casings and filed false reports, trying to cover up the incident.
Is there anything this summary excludes? Is this what happened?
I haven't really been following this too closely because of the indication that they shot at an unarmed fleeing man.
Whatever you think of that personally, I think it's pretty clear that the Border Patrol doesn't allow that.
So, what do you think should have been done here?
And before you start, I think I've established myself here as pro immigration control and anti drug smuggling, so we can skip over any accusations, OK?

What they did was wrong, but I still hate to see them put away.
It's kinda like someone being caught red-handed on video tape commiting a crime and getting off on some technicality. They should be punished but are not. In the border patrol case, they were wrong in what they did but right (IMO) in the overall scheme of things.
Another thing of note..."Compean fired at least 14 rounds and Ramos fired once. Ramos wounded the suspect and saw him limp into Mexico." Either Ramos is one hell of a shot or Compean royally sucks with a firearm.

You fail to mention the physical struggle between one of the agents and the suspect, and the fact that neither agent nor their supervisor saw any evidence that the suspect was struck by one of the rounds fired at him.
I suggest you read some of the DHS documents that have been made public in the last 48 hours regarding the case and their investigation.

Well, it looks like this isn't over. I'm glad it's getting Congressional attention.
In the meantime, I think the Border Patrol agents should be at one of those white-collar prisons where the few thieving CEO's that get jail time play tennis.
I think it is totally wrong to put them in with the guys the sent up, particularly since this issue of guilt is under investigation.

Yep. Particularly considering the response one would get from MT when using WND as a source on liberal issues.
As for the Indy Star, note the part I quoted was just a statement of facts as they came out in the trial.
I'm sure you feel the trial was rigged but to date it's the only "official" version out there. Perhaps the Congressional investigation will provide another account.
Let me be clear about one thing: If they were framed, then the prosecutor and anyone connected with the frame up should be charged and punished if found guilty.
OTOH, if these two BP Agents broke the law, they have to be held accountable as well.
Right now, I doubt either you or I know the complete story.

As much as I dislike Pelosi,she did nothing wrong. She asked for a nonstop plane and the Pentagon said none are available.
She has said that she will now fly commercial nonstop. I guess if she has secret service with her, they will go along.
Either way, we will pay.

I was a fueler for big jets about 10 years ago, at the Charleston International Airport, and if I remember correctly jets use less fuel in the winter because the air is denser which gives the engines more to push on.

And I've seen 100+ kt headwinds going to the West Coast. Sorta makes a difference in your normal groundspeed.
I don't know what fuel reserve requirements 89th MAW uses to plan but I can conceive of situations where a G3 wouldn't fit the profile, ranges posted here notwithstanding.

the air force offered the C-20B, they have 5 of them in the USA and it has a range of 4200 miles and it's what the last speaker of the house used.

It wouldn't suprise me if you have to have enough fuel for the approach and missed at airport of intended landing, fuel to the alternate and approach there and then another either percent or time amount of fuel left after that.
Couple that with winter winds and you may have a situation where the G3 can't go.
It's going to depend a lot on enroute winds and destination weather.

The Speaker requires additional precautions due to her responsibilities as the leader of the House and her Constitutional position as second in the line of succession to the presidency.
In a post 9/11 threat environment, it is reasonable and prudent to provide military aircraft to the Speaker for official travel between Washington and her district. The practice began with Speaker Hastert and I have recommended that it continue with Speaker Pelosi. The fact that Speaker Pelosi lives in California compelled me to request an aircraft that is capable of making non-stop flights for security purposes, unless such an aircraft is unavailable. This will ensure communications capabilities and also enhance security. I made the recommendation to use military aircraft based upon the need to provide necessary levels of security for ranking national leaders, such as the Speaker. I regret that an issue that is exclusively considered and decided in a security context has evolved into a political issue.
She must really scare the politicos on the other side of the isle to generate this kind of vitriol over a non issue.

I think the last speaker only went half as far. Anyway, the way I hear it is the Pentagon could not guarentee a nonstop in the C20B for some reason and she don't want to stop to refuel. I wish I had perks like that.

DCA has a very limited set of feeder airports & AFAIK, SFO is not one of them. IIRC, denver is the furthest west airport from which departures are allowed to fly nonstop to DCA. IMOH the best solution for the speker would be a P-82 based out of College Park:cool: :cool: :cool:

The 89th MAW/99AS operates out of KADW. She'd be on a military flight plan, not a civil one. I suspect they operate into and out of KADW with a different set of rules.

And like it or not, Kalifornica as you say is the economic powerhouse of this nation. If it stood alone it would be like the 5 or 6 biggest economy in the world...and they got real good mexican food, and gold claims. used to be my home state, but liberals and price of housing drove me to Texas...where I found my people...hehe
