Nef, I'm curious as to whether if I or my XO change our in-game ID's, will it have an effect on our FSO registration?

No.  The ahevents.org site is maintained separately.  If you change your login on the ahevents.org site, then the FSO tools there would have a problem.  If either of you do change your in-game ID, please update your profile on ahevents.org to reflect the new in-game ID.
