Was the Armor Head Plate really that obstructing in RL in the corsairs?????
I find that I really dont enjoy flying them anymore because of the massive obstruction of view. Even changing around my rear views, I cant find anything that works for me.

i used to be a 4-hog lover until they put the massive metal object i seriously i agree i dont enjoy flying corsair no more

Theres not much room to see out the back of that...

yea but i believe the added metal stuff was highly unnecessary they where better before all that
-
They were inaccurate before, thats why they were changed. Every plane has taken a hit when they remodelled them, the 109 wasn't that bad before and now you can't see behind you at all, same in the razorback Jug and Pony.

Point of order:
That's a birdcage Hog, Treize. ;)

The skull-head said "RL Corsairs", not "bubble top uber-hogs" ;)

dude ur myspace been looking like a molestor's no offense

The real Corsairs (and, in fact, all American fighters) had large mirrors at the top of their canopies.
-
The way people fight in this game + I do not think it is used that much (it dosent really help) as far as I am concerned.

If you are talking about mirrors, you're wrong. First, mirrors might be useless to you because you turn and burn. However, mirrors are very useful to energy fighters who must often extend at such an angle that seeing the enemy behind the seat is impossible. Also, you can't know whether mirrors would be useful or not in Aces High, unless you've played another World War Two aerial combat game that has mirrors (as I have).

If you find the armor plate too vision limiting, maybe you could fix that by altering the way you have things mapped.
I fly the corsairs more or less exclusively, and honestly I got over the vision problem within maybe 10 minutes of flying the "new" graphics.
I use an X52 joystick. I mapped the main HAT switch to my normal views, and a button my left thumb sits on, on my throttle, for up view. The big change I made in mapping was to map the "slide head left/right" onto the 4 way hAT switch on my throttle, that my left index finger sits on.
My six view is slid away from the seat, with my head as high as possible, but centered. I use the HAT switch to slide my head left/right as needed to check my six.
HONESTLY, I do not even notice the armor plate anymore until I see a thread like this, or hear someone mention it in-game. I can look any direction I want, slide my head around, and shoot at the same time. Not really a big deal. I wouldn't mind a mirror though if it was do-able.
Of course, I'm massively in favor of Hitech making the graphics as well as the flight models etc, as absolutely accurate as possible. I know they will never be perfect, but I for one appreciate the effort. I would rather deal with vision-blocking accuracy than fly around in a WW2-theme goldfish bowl. Then again, I do hunt with a .54 flintlock as my preferred firearm, and a redtail hawk for small game, so it may be that I'm just addicted to challange...

I cant turn my head backward in real life so I figure what is an obstruction now in game wouldnt be an issue at all in the real thing cause I couldnt turn my head to see it as an obstruction in the first place.

You must be out of shape, then. Right now, sitting at my chair, I can turn my head enough to see something exactly behind me, without moving any part of my body below my neck. My shoulders are perfectly fixed. Granted, I cannot see the object clearly, but I can see it out of the corner of my eye.
Add shoulder movement (real fighter pilots do loosen their straps so that they can look all the way behind them), and you get a perfect picture of what's behind you, at the cost of comfort. And don't forget about the mirror.

I know gliders are nothing like warbirds, but ours have similar restraints. Out of curiosity I decided to see if I could replicate in-game views in real life. I couldnt. I could look back that well at all, though, again, I wasnt using shoulder movement. Ill take a camera next time. But I dont think views were nearly as good in real life as they are here. Just an un-biased oppinion. I dont fly the Corsairs so I cannot say anything.
