I have a similar problem, without the green bar. When I try to get into AH, I either get a system lock up at a white screen, before I ever get into AH, or the screen has "bars" on it and shimmers (this depends on high high or low i set the res) I have deleted the video7.cfg over and over and tried the various resolutions and 16/32 bit color.
Sys:
P3 933
256 MB Ram
ABIT CUV4X-C MB
ABIT 8200 GeForce3 (12.6 drivers)
SB Live Value 5.1

Neither one of you mentioned what OS you are running on.
For starters, ensure you have DX8. Then get the latest sound card drivers. Get the latest video drivers for your ATI card. For the nVidia card... you might want OLDER ones.
If that doesn't do it, try un-installing the game and downloading a fresh copy. It is possible you have a corrupted download.

Same problem....
Win 98
PII 333 64megs
Voodoo2 8megs
DX 8.0

Had a similur problem a few days ago.
It was a corruped uppload of the directx8.1 that caused it, direct3D did not worked.
When I did a new uppload (of dx8.1)from a new page it worked ok :)
Maybe u should try and reinstall dx8...

I had a similar problem when running DX7 with the beta. I'll try the new download though.
Thanks,

I'm not sure that an 8 meg V2 is going to cut it anymore.
Try decreasing your resolution.

i have win 98 and i had dx 8.0 The game was working on my system the first day I got it (latest version of game with patch 2). But it would crash. I adjusted the video properties in the game (down to 16bit) and the the white screen started happening. I have re installed the game with fresh dl's and have upgraded to dx8.0A Also, very important, my video card does not show up in the settings for the game when I have tried to reinstall. NO VIDEO CARD options at all.
HELP!!!! My 2 weeks will be up without playing a whole mission

I had the same problem when 1.08 patch 2 was introduced. Start AH, click Online, H2H, or Offline the system would startup Roger Wilco and upon returning to the AH screen... Poof (white screen and reboot was the only option) :(
I couldn't get into setup to turn off RW so I simply renamed the executable in the Resounding folder.
 Ok, so it wasn't the best solution but it got me in the air again. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Apologies, I am running 98 SE. While I recognize the possibility of a retrograde on my drivers, I was hoping not to have to do that yet as these drivers seem to work with everything else.

I believe HT has posted that 8mb cards are no longer supported

FYI, I am running WIN98 SE, PIII 667, ASUS MB, 256K RAM, and GeForce2MX 32 MB AGP Video card. I re-installed version 1.08 and patch-the update porked me too. :(
I went to NDIVA's place and this is a new driver location BUT, be advised it did make my system work-better, not perfect.
BUT read on before linking!!
NDIVA Drivers (http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=windows9x)
Finally, I still wasn't pleased, so I uninstalled my video drivers-from Control Panel-ADD/REMOVE Programs.
I then got the CD from my video card with the original drivers and now I am back in bidness.
I still get the white screen, but it only lasts for 2 to 4 seconds. No more lockups either. I also installed DirectX 8.0 but there was no change I can relate for that effort.
I hope this gives you some help-certainly NOT a fix, but a help.

I finally resolved this by upgrading my video driver from ASUS.
