I'll be flying a bit and then the FE will crash. It seems like my altitude jumps very high because I'll suddently see stars and sometimes a curved blue horizon, and the entire FE is frozen.
I'm using 81.xx series nvidia drivers on an AGP 6800GT, Athlon X2 4400, 2 gig ram.
Also noticed that using VOX will cause severe stutters and FE pausing.
Sound card is SB audigy2 ZS.
OS is WinXP SP2 fully patched.
Monitoring cpu and vid temps during play shows no unusual temperature spikes that could cause the crashes, and I am not overclocking anything.
More info - when this happens, I get a steady stream of "don't move your controls so rapidly", but can get to the tower. It jumps to night time. I can attempt to fly, but the horizon spins crazily and in external view, the elevator is full up and the ailerons are full right. Hat views work ok, and the engine will start and stop. Exiting the plane works ok sometimes.
I calibrated joystick under windows and then in the game, and before this happens everything works ok. When I'm in the tower, there is a clipboard page that spins around endlessly.

Usually I just get a top view or something like that with stars, and the FE hangs. I can ctrl-tab to the desktop and that works ok. restarting the game works ok for a few minutes and then it hangs again. temperatures seem ok, vid card temp is in low 70s where it usually is. Fans all seem to be running.
4x FSAA seems to crash immediately. the next step down 2xQ seemed to work ok for a while with over an hour of flying but eventually the FE hung.

Sounds like you should have posted this in the Tech Support forum.
Is this happening off-line, in the H2H arenas, the MA's or everywhere?
Have you tied uninstalling and reinstalling the game?
Have you checked for resource conflicts on your machine?
I read in he Tech support forum that there is an issue with dual core proccessors that might be the cause of the spinning clipboard.
Those are my only suggestions. Good luck.

This really is not a bug in the game eagl. It is several bugs in the AMD dual core CPU support.
AMD has a patch to correct the problems. It is called the "dual-core optimizer" patch. It will address the issues which are manifeting themnselves in Aces High II.
