I will be updating all of my tree packs.First one is the jungle pack:

How did you made those shadows?

I used my tree texture i made, then made white only the tree part and rest black.I used that as an alpha texture.Then i made a whole black bmp which was the base file.Then on the alpha texture i reduced the white on gray scale.
Then i put the shade object below the tree.You should add the the zbias tag in the object properties.Do not add stencilalpha tag, shade won't show then.
Also add the nocollide tag

Snow trees.Also redone, greatly reduced fps usage.

Should use those trees and make a fall map. Cover the ground with leaves and brown grass.

Wow duh, you had me convinced it was the game making those shadows. That is way over my head, I really badly need to learn how that works, for as it is AH's planes' shadows won't show on my custom rwy and taxi tiles.:lol

Being a nearly complete OE idiot I have a question...
Do those shadows shorten and lengthen depending on the time of day?
Forgive my OE ignorance. :)

Nice work, duh. :aok
One comment... if you are going to hard-code the shadows into the objects, you might want to think about "straight down" instead of slanted like that. They won't look so obviously out of place that way. Maybe even blur them out a little.

texsrc folder of your terrain.

OK put these files into my texscr folder, they show up as .shp files
Opening the Terrain Editor I am not seeing any of these file types ?
Hate to be a pain about all the simple stuff :confused:

That's because you have to go to: File>Load (Or Open). Then open the terrain with the files in it's texsrc folder. Yes, you even have to do this is you even currently have the terrain open which has those files in it's texsrc folder. The TE changed recently and causes this error. If anything is added to the texsrc folder other than the Clipboard map you have to re-load the terrain for that / those files to appear.:aok

Great work on the trees ! Is there a way to add them
to the OE as to make a clutter tile with a lot of them?
Instead of the possible too many field objects dropping FR
using the TE

Try placing the .shp objects into the "userlib" folder. Once the files are in there, they should appear in the available shapes list in the OE.

Well this is great.Not only that i have lost all my terrain files now a site where i kept tree packs and maps is not working.So i am asking if anyone has these latest tree packs, could you send them via email to me please?

Is HTC going to give you a free subscription anytime soon in trade for all your terrains?

i5t would be nice if HTC would take advantage of the talent that you guys have got and start to use some of your work.
Surely it wouldn't be so hard for HTC to inspect some different items of work to check the standards and compatibilty and to incoperate them into the terrrain editor if they were good enough.
We are already limited on what we can really do for main arena maps,but with 4 arenas and all the different terrains that could be made we could add more immersion and diversion to the game.

Its a tradegy we cant use these great home-made productions in MA maps.

Agreed, lots of things can be made so easily which are simple yet fun to play with. The bad side is HTC won't accept it. Would be neat if they setup an "Acceptance Page" similar to that the skinners have where we can upload custom textures and objects.

I am working on my new map and i have decided to update the jungle trees a bit.i will upload the files soon for anyone that would like to learn perhaps from the objects i made..Biggest change is that there were big changes in lods and draw distance.Much more lods now and much better frame rates even with more trees at distance.There are some bugs still to fix

Are these trees placed to the tile one by one or did you join objects to bigger groups first?

New version i made two objects - one bigger group of trees and one smaller.I am really surprised by how good fps i am getting with new lods, even when i increased the draw distance.And i have a very weak computer:)

Have you noticed that when htc does their forest, they build them a full slice at a time. Based on what I've seen to date, that may be key to improving frame rates.

Yes, that I was after
I assume the total number of the individual objects (min/max distance tracked & calculated, etc properties) has something to do with it.
Same amount of vertices's tracked in 32 individual objects or in 8 grouped objects I.E. slices.
