this may or may not be possible...
in AH right now, say you are in the cockpit and are looking left while you drop flaps. the sound only comes out 1 side basically. same with a few other sounds, and especially when in a field gun or something and move the aim.
it is not really annoying, but somewhat in certain circumstances.
would it be possible to make those "own FE" sounds not space related? it is my guess there is a "point in space" in the AH world that sound is originating, and by moving your view or relative position the sound moves according. it works GREAT for other things, especially external sounds, but for those local sounds it shouldn't really happen.
in a field gun, moving around, the sound would be just as loud in both ears no matter where you pointed the gun at.
flaps, I don't know if they are sent to external users, but I doubt you would hear the flaps of another plane deploying over the engine noise even if they were right next to you on the runway. for sounds like that would it be hard to make them "mono" on your own FE?

This would be great.
You know what else would be great? Separate external sounds, along with individual sounds for different RPM levels (1, 2, 3, 4). As the sound engine is at the moment, there's not much flexibility given to us sound editors, and the aircraft engine sounds feel almost lifeless.
It would be a system similar to Flight Simulator's, naturally. I've suggested this before, though it seems to have always been ignored.
It wouldn't require the creation of a brand-new set of sounds to go along with the default AHII download. It would just be an optional expansion opportunity for those who are willing to use the (rather massive) hard drive space needed for such a thing.

that sounds like a LOT to ask fruda, though I see where you are coming form...
maybe in the future ;) but for now I'd settle for what I mentioned :aok
I noticed I wasn't real clear about what I was asking...
Just make the simple sounds that are non-space related mono only.
it would probably save a few milliseconds of processor time, and a few bytes of file size for the sounds in the game DL too ;)

There is only so much you can get any MMO to do, that replicates real life. Personally, I think HT and company have done on cracker jack job with all aspects of AH... He's come a long way from Airwarrior dayze. :aok
and that's my two bits on the topic
