I hope that none of us encounter war other than in the virtual world.  This is an interesting read.

I live in Coventry.  My street was built in the 1830's which is less than a mile from the city centre.   Half way down the street 5 houses on both side of the street, are different from the rest.  A couple were only replaced in the late 1970's.  I have a picture book (can't read lol) of "Coventry at war".  One picture of my street shows the front of a house completely blown away.  5 deaths in that house.

My Dad, as a kid at the time, collected shrapnel in the streets.  I have them now.... Handleable relics from Operation...Moonlight Senator.

My dad was a teenager during the Liverpool blitz. In May1941 an aerial mine demolished half the houses on a street next to where he lived. 15 deaths. The fires from the burning docks could be seen as far north as Fleetwood where my mum was living.

A good read Benny, but the author looses all credibility when he describes Yanks as "good looking".
:D
