As if the game isn't hard enough for me already I was looking at my expanded kill stats two days ago and was surprised to see that I had flown 15 different fighter aircraft so far this camp.
Sadly, my kills per death +1 were below 1.0 for 9 of them so I set off on a little challenge for myself the past two nights... to get to 1 K/(D+1) or better in each plane I'd flown.
In the past two nights I flew 9 sorties in 8 different planes erasing my deficit with 4 of them, maintaining it in 1, making it worse in 1, making 1 that was already ahead better and adding a new one to the positive list for a total of 16 fighters flown this camp (now "behind" in 5).
All my kills and deaths have been air to air.
That made me think:
Who's flown the most different fighters so far this camp?
How many are you/they "ahead" in?
Does anyone else actually set these silly challenges for themselves?
I know theres a lot of good sticks out there (much much better than me) and the common wisdom is to learn your plane inside out but how many of the really good sticks actually follow that advice?
I will add that the majority of my flights are in 3 planes but I find jumping around kind of fun (a given in our squad) and I've flown every "style" of fighter so far this camp. Still, I mostly s***, but this little challenge has been sort of fun.

I got kills in 28 different models during this tour so far, not counting SBD & Il2. I do have my favs (especially Tempest), but I end up using at least 10-14 different fighters each tour. Mood, Arena, and especially the type of mission influence my choice for each sortie.
When I started AH2, I followed the common advice and did stick to my first plane most of the time. Only after about 1000 kills I began to drop my La7, and from month to month the number of different planes I flew during a tour increased.

Best advice is not to know just one plane, know what EVERY plane is capable of. Best way to do that is fly every plane for some amount of time.

Well last tour I died in 22 different aircraft / GV's but I only got kills in 13 different aircraft/ GV's

I did one tour way back in v1.09 or v1.10 (or something like that) where I got one or more kills in every unit in AH at the time. Even the C-47, which took only one flight to do.
The hardest to do was the Ar234. I must have done about 15 sorties before I killed an Ostwind with it. I had even started bombing the spawn points on runways in the hope that something would spawn just in time for the bomb to arrive. I also almost lost an Ar234 to a diving A6M5, and that would have spoiled it as the only thing I've never lost in AH.
I hardly play anymore, so I only have two kills in a Ki-84 this tour.

in the past guys have the the kill challenge, land 2 kills in every plane in 1 tour...
IIRC the Japanese torpedo plane with only rear guns was one of the hardest, but it has been done by a few people (landing 2 in each plane)
