A couple of weeks ago there was a thread about ... something, that ended up being a Veyron vs. Saleen discussion. With that in mind Top Gear's Captain Slow tested the Veyron's top speed in the previous episode:

Interesting.

But is it really a Bugatti?

I was reading an Automobile magazine today during my physical therapy session and an article in it talked about Porsche not knowing what to do with Bugatti.  After the Veyron, what next?  They said probably nothing.

So, is it really a Bugatti?

No it's actually a Volkswagen; they own Bugatti (not Porsche). VW's old boss said one day something to the effect of "Hey guys! Now that we own Bugatti lets make a car with 1000 hp that goes 400 km/h". People in the design department were fainting or jumping out the window. The boss made it an order  and gave Bugatti/VW until his retirement to make it happen … sort of like a retirement gift.

Ok, my mistake, VW not Porsche.  So it's actually a VW.  

I want a retirement gift like that.

I'll probably just get a watch.
