So... you buy yourself a house and barn that have been abandoned for 15+ years. While you are cleaning up the property and moving in, you cut the lock off the barn to see what is inside...
Might take a 1 minute load for the pics, but freaking worth it!

Incredible find!
-
Wow!
I wonder how much they are all worth...
-
Jehosophat! Yeeoww! :O
Some were obviously junk or shells or had been parted out. Wonder what makes and models were on all of those. Recognized a few Mazdas, and the Austin Cooper....
-
If I had done that I'd be absolutely dumbfounded trying to figure out which ones I wanted to hang onto and restore first. :O
I'd also be very reluctant to post pictures on the internet about it.......
:noid
-
wow orgasm ....
hell just give me the mini's and the porshe's .
I know of a few places up here that have a better collection then that though ...
(Can you say Duesenburgs )
-
He's probably sitting on a million bucks worth of cars/parts

Easily $2 million IMHO.
The two Mini MKI's, the two GP cars (which were probably raced, further increasing their value), the Lotus Europa, Super 7, Elan. The 356 appears to be a 1300 Coupe and judging by the interior being in near mint shape (the paint on the dash looks factory new).
Throw in the rest and I'd estimate around 2-2.5 million bucks after some car washes, polish and wax. Alot of that crap will come off. But it is a shame that some of the convertibles didn't have covers on them.
-
I'd say several million, with all the super-rare Lancia, Alfa and other exotic veterans.
Edit: Masherbrum beat me to it.
-
Theres about 1 mil worth in this pic alone ...
Id guess closer to 5 mil after they were cleaned up .. alot depends on milage and history though .
-
easy 5mil. some "barn" My dream come true, except for somebody else.
I gotta search and see if I can find a story about this, this had to have been written up somewhere. It would take years to clean those all up but I would stand in line to walk through that barn. I curious as to how all those cars ended up in that barn.
1 of at least 3 Porsches I saw and maybe a 52 Oldsmobile Rocket 88
(http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/874_1171772187_afa3123di.jpg)
besides the two GP cars also looks like a 49 or 50 Pontiac and 48 or 49 Ford
(http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/874_1171772144_afa8417ee.jpg)
then a couple of more mercedes and what looks like a 39 or 40 Lincoln
(http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/874_1171772120_afa4610sb.jpg)
on the right looks like a 47 or 48 Chevy Fleetline and left looks like it might be a 49 or 50 Mercury or possibly a Hudson or Packard
(http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/874_1171772090_afa2715rt.jpg)
and then a 70 Oldsmoblie Cutlass (too bad its a 4 door) next to it looks like a 67 or 68 Dodge or Chrysler and then might be another Dodge next to it too dark to tell
(http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/874_1171772064_afa715jk.jpg)
-
(http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/874_1171772064_afa715jk.jpg)
is that some American vintage? (the 2 black four doors in the middle) and a blue chevy above them?
-
all three of those black ones in the middle are American, or at least two of them, Olds and possible Chrysler, not 100% on the 3rd one on the left picture is too dark. Also the Maroon car on the right looks like it might be a late 40's Dodge or Plymouth Business coupe also. and towards the top middle, kinda greenish looking might also be a Packard or a Hudson?
I dont think the Blue car is a chevy, theres another pic of that car from a different angle

yes , thats and olds .. and the 4dr next to it looks like another olds
the lower right corner under the time stamp ... If thats what I think it is there's a 500,000 dollar car right there easily ... Im guessing it may be a 33 willys
-
same couple of cars but different angle.
blue car to me doesnt look like a chevy, not sure what though.
Roscoroo, I'm pretty sure that 2nd car next to the Olds is a dodge or plymouth/chrysler Polaris or Coronet, you can see the back of that car in this pic on the left.
and I think that one under the time stamp might be a Fiat or another Italian make, I'm not real good on recongnizing european cars.
-
I'm finding out little tidbits on this. These are in Portugal and they have been locked up since 1990 or 1991. They cut the lock in mid-January. Rumor is, around 180 cars are in this barn, from one of the site someone saw a Ford GT (must mean a GT40). I cannot find more pics, but there have to be more out there.
Alot of people are thinking the original owner of the property may have been hiding them for possible tax issues?
My estimate will rise to over 6 million if there is a GT40 in the barn. This is sick! LeMay would be chitting himself if he were still alive.
-
directly behind the 69-70 Olds cutlass looks like it might be a 29-30 Ford Model A

Although that sounds plausable, some of those cars just look like daily drivers and dont seem that special, I mean a 4 door 70 olds cutlass?

I haven't seen many 4 door 1970 Cutlasses here in the states, but have seen a chitload of 2 doors.
New info: The original property owner died and the heirs never saw this "warehouse" as it is being called, which was off of the beaten path.
-
here check this Link
http://jalopnik.com/cars/retro/open-sesame-warehouse-opening-in-portugal-reveals-forgotten-collection-231918.php
looks like more info
ok well maybe not, even few pictures there
-
yea it could be a polaris ... i was going by the Hood chrome and the shape of the headlamps to grill kinda has that 98 look to it plus the trade mark "post"
that little black 2dr thing almost looks like a chevy2 / nova "67 ??? or even a rambler ..
the willys looking car it has all the right look for one .... And ive seen the head lamps bolth ways in the fenders and in the pods.
http://www.onpoi.net/ah/pics/users/874_1171774586_afa513ap.jpg
the black car center left looks like a fury
-
yea it could be a Fury too, hard to tell from these pictures.
the other one I wouldnt guess a Nova, the slant on the roof seems wrong, I'd for more for a 66 67 Falcon maybe or even a two door dodge
-
Best site for pics yet:
Linky (http://www.bangerphotos.com/BangerPhotosGallery.php?area=2)
This is truly remarkable.
-
If this were a "caption this" posting...I'd have to go with "Jay Leno's Garage in the year 2053"
-
if there was a vintage gt-40 in that wet dream ... in the shape thats there ... the price of that collection just about doubled ...
look at the paint ... pay close attention to the reds and the older 30-40's cars .... they look darn good . but then laquer checking is hard to see in pics
-

yes much better, a lot of the same pics but a few new ones not seen yet.
#26 looks like another Aston Martin DB coupe, also one of the other forums i ran across said it was heard the owner bought all those cars in the 80's and is a collector and they were stored there and then the doors welded shut on purpose.

Roo, I have YET to see one in any pics.
Airscrew, I'm not sure if that is an Aston Martin at all. Granted it sure as hell could be a DB2/4 or a DB MkIII. But that grill is throwing me off.
-
I wonder how much those two vintage formula one cars are worth? Priceless?
-
Yea i havent see a gt40 in any pics yet either ...
im not shure about the Aston Martin either .. it looks like one ...
the Formula cars go by their history ... they could be worth 70k or 1/2 mil +
-
I havent seen anything yet with a GT40 shape to it but I dont think all those pics covered the entire barn/garage. I'm gonna kinda retract the Aston Martin guess on #26, now that I look at it again, the turn signal/fog lamps look to big and I think #24 might be a rear shot of #26.
Viking those two GP cars could be worth anywhere from 200,000 if just plain jane race cars to a Million a piece if they were driven by someone famous (I wouldnt know off the top of my head, Iwas more a NASCAR fan when I was a kid) think Andy Granatilli (sp?) or Al Unsur
-
I'm giving up for the night. I found at least 15 different auto type forums with these pics and similar story but nothing link to a website or someone that was actually there and saw the cars or any kind of list. I'd say give it a few days and search again. I checked Snopes real quick and didnt find anything related to this

it almost looks like a mercedes...
-
I'm betting that if thier 'barn' was filled with these, then whoever purchased them to begin with must've had a hell of a house and property there too. Anyone know? The new owner was probably already loaded, if that's the case.
-
Barn? More like a hangar. Is there a house of pain in the cellar?
-
356 Porsche,my Dad had that when he snagged my mom:D
He also had a BSA 3 wheeler before he came over from England.
Nice find Rip>!
-
I only wish I could buy a barn similarly fitted with WW2 vintage aircraft in nearly flying condition...
-
And the kicker is that the real owner was appauled by the rusty old junk he found in his barn and scrapped the lot for $2000 worth.

I was thinking Maserati Sebring until the bumper. Aston Martin is out of the question as the grille's are "flared".

yup
Money always manages to find money
Hell of a nice find though.
couple real race cars there too.
From when racecars were racecars
-
Yep - sell a couple in there to finance the restoration of all the rest - amazing though
-
Some of that rubber is in great condition for 15years..
-
No exposure to sunshine will keep it from looking rotten. The tires are all toast though from having set in one position so long. I'd be reluctant to even drive them to a nearby tires store for replacement.

Ok..
I knew the rubber was toast, but Portugal, isn't that a humid climate?
I'm doubting the 15yr claim..

I don't, the layers of dust, and bird**** PROVE the 15 year claim.
-
that shed was running a climate control ... I saw it in one of the pics
theyve been sitting at least 15 yrs i bet ... ive pulled cars outta barns that have sat over 25 yrs ... and they didnt have much more dust then whats there.
as for the tires and rubber .. alot of that should be in fair shape as for its sunlite that causes it to deteriorate ... I wouldnt trust any of the flat/low air tires though . but i wouldnt be afraid to drive on the others . BTDT many many times .

Looks like a '50s Ferrari to me, although a quick search did not give any results that matched this one exactly.
-
(http://members16.clubphoto.com/perl/app.pl/albums/slide_show?album_item_id=204422326) Bears a strong resemblance to this one though. Anyone recognize the logo on the grille?
-
i think thats a Lancia badge, but I could be wrong, I'm not very good on european cars, especially older ones
-
WTH is up with that Website? reading the comments, I find "Bobcostas" screenname with a Barry Gibb avatar on it? :rofl :huh
Sell off the cars and get some good quarterhorses in there.
-
Good call Airscrew. The first one appears to be a Flaminia and the second an Appia. Attractive cars. The Flaminia looks alot like A Ferrari 250 to me. Probably no accident that.
-
The real story behind these photos is a little less exciting than the one we had been operating under.
http://www.snopes.com/photos/automobiles/barnfind.asp
The guy was an auto dealer, had built this collection up over time, and had just recently paid a photographer to document the collection.
-
was thinkin same as I looked at photos- NO WAY anyone let this collection slip by. "I bought a farm & found em in the barn"
This is the kind of collection everyone in neighboring towns knows about.
-
Jeeeez.
This is like finding a barn full of 109's!!!!

I just now saw this thread heh. Pretty cool collection of cars imo. To bad the story turned out to be:
The guy was an auto dealer, had built this collection up over time, and had just recently paid a photographer to document the collection.
The original premise was a neat story. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. ;)
There was a guy I knew in the Air Force that grew up in rural Vermont. One of his neighbors tore down their barn just because it was so old, really really old.
Inside the walls they found several hundred muskets still wrapped in oilskins from the Revolutionary war.
