Title: "Permanent campaign" and Governing
Post by: 1K3 on February 19, 2007, 11:12:28 PM
Do you guys think the Democrats and Republicans spend a bit tooo much time electioneering (http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=define%3A+electioneering&btnG=Google+Search)  (yes, this is a word) for 2008, 2012, etc etc rather than governing the country effectively?

Whether electioneering is an issue or not in stopping govt. efficiency is up for debate. Right now and for the last 15 or so years I'd say that doing the blame game has done more to stop them from doing their jobs. Putting blame for something is a better way to show they are doing something rather than actually getting to work to make substantive and positive changes.

The blame game *is* electioneering, IMO. It's worked for years.

I'm cynical enough that I prefer a Congress so divided that it has it's sights on the other aisle instead of on new and exciting legislation. So, I suppose I support electioneering even tho I change the channel when an election ad comes on.
