I was never in basic training so I don't know what colour my socks where. But if I had been in basic training, I would have liked by socks to be a blue/gray/red paisley.
-
Green for field wear and black for dress uniform

Bronk

Mine were white with red letters that said, "Take Canada!"
-
Black and black... black wool/cotton for combat boots, thin black ones for low quarters.... and when we're real freaky we'd wear.... black socks.
-
Green Wool.
.... and I have NOT worn Army ISSUED Socks (or underwear) since then. Your feet are important, treat them right. My sock drawer 20 years later includes: Green, Black, Tan, and Desert Brown Socks now..... none of them Army issue. Nadda. Between Campmor and Ranger Joes, my (flat) feet are (relatively) happy feet.

I don't remember the colour
But I can't forget the smell ;)

I wore pantyhose, not socks. Which might have something to do with why they booted me out.
-
Thrawn,
Just an FYI: No one on this board gets sarcasm. All threads are taken seriously.
-
The real question is.... Do intardnet snipers have special magic sucks, or just magical imaginations?:D
-
socks? you guys had socks? next you will be saying you also had boots.
all i got was a sniper rifle, a poison pill and a scorpion, the scorpion was in case the poison pill did not work.

white huh? bet that was usefull.

As they didn't issue us socks. They were probably blue, which I usually wear. Come to think of it, they didn't issue us with shirts, ties, fatigues, combat uniforms, webbing and it was ages before I was officially issued a beret. :huh We did get boots though and an ill fitting badly made No1 uniform. :lol Ah the good old days!

You seem confused my friend, actually it was the ARI. Army of the Republic of Ireland.:p
More accurately the FCA, Forsa Cosanta Aituil. Think National Guard!
The IRA had much better uniforms, including ski masks to keep out the cold Irish winds, (I assume). ;) Plus they had AR-15's and AK-47's. All we had were .303 Lee Enfiields. :O I think their socks were green, white and orange.:rofl

They also had nice little black cabs that liked to drive round the Ardoyne keeping them alll cosy, milkvans to and cutout vans, the cut out vans where the good ones, you knew one was in the area, esspceially around crossmaglen, some of the road signs there were clearly makred with nice big round holes to let you know thaty had nice new shiny American made Barrets to use.
that's why we always walked about 15 meters behind the nice RUC guy.....
go for a wander around the divis flats sometimes, they don't need to wear ski masks now, they're all legit politicians now you know...

The real question is if an intardnet sniper shot a bear in the wood and no one heard it does it make a sound when it takes a dump?:noid

Well I was issued OD green wool socks from the Army and black wool socks from the Coast Guard but never wore them. I had my personal stash of Fruit of the Loom white cotton tube socks. Only kind of socks I'll wear unless I have to dress up for something.
-
black for fancy and work uniform
green for field uniform
thick grey socks for winter

ditto

man, been a while, but IIRC we just had thin blue(black?) socks issued. (Navy) wore 'em with boondockers, low quarters and sneakers, one size fits all... :)
-
i don't wear clothes.
-
Black combat socks, Black dress green socks.
Nothing exciting.. the new ones are green.. ive decided that my new ACU's are designed to cammoflauge me while lying on a New York sidewalk at night.
-
Yea, but what color did you wear in combat?
-
Thrawn,
Did you suddeenly just develop a fetish for mens socks or is it a new thing for you. Why are you concerned about military socks or are the nancy boys in your neighborhood no longer thrilling enough for you? :huh
