Oh, please- Ian Anderson a GREAT FLAUTIST? Ian Anderson played the flute like it was a kazoo! You don't HUM into a flute- you BLOW into a flute!
Now before I get a rebuttal, my resume- I was a child musical prodigy. I was an accomplished pianist at three years old, and by five I had mastered the flute, and at seven years old I became the youngest lead flauitist in the history of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
I have played before Her Majesty, the Queen of England, the Sultan of Burnei, Presidents and Prime Ministers at their innagural balls, and I even played the Star Spangled Banner to begin not one- but THREE- World Series games. I was even on Jack Parr's Tonight Show.
At nine years old I gave up music- I mean, there was just nothing left to do and I got bored- but even today, almost fifty years later, I could STILL pick up a flute and sound better than Ian Anderson.

Fun to see what unconventional stuff people can improvise. But that would sound better with uncompromised flute tone and separate rhythm.
