i was just wondering,about a week ago one of our cv's was off a bish coast.Myself and another was at 15K in bombers i was what needed to be takes out the said the shore battery,i swing arouund and drop 3 1000lbs(was a formaion of bombers so 9K) on it and it was still up.dosent it only take 4 1000lbs to kill it?i may have recorded it im not shure on that.just wondering if anyone have noticed trying to bomb a shore battery in buffs and had the same thing happen to them.

Post by: DREDger on February 21, 2007, 08:27:33 AM: It is hard to hit a shore battery when level bombing, but not impossible. You might take into account that you just missed?

Shore batteries are located on a raised mound of earth, with a steep incline. What this means is you have to hit it right on, otherwise the bomb blows up much further down a hill, and has no affect on the battery.

Hope this is right, thats my take on it. btw, your post was very hard to read and understand

ok ok, no offence meant. I miss those things all the time dive bombing them.

There is a narrow area to hit though, it might be the drone bombers being left, right and behind hit the mound of dirt, not the actual SB...dunno...

Also, I have 'heard', that if you shoot rockets into the opening, as opposed to on top, it reputedly does more damage....tho I don't know...I suppose the same could be said for shooting cannon/mg into the front of it.

I found in an F-6 I can take out a SB if I don't miss with bombs or rocks, then use just about all my bullets strafing it....I suppose that would equate to about 4k worth of ord.

Shooting into the entrance of it...dunno.
