Tigers this time.
To all you parents out there: Would you allow your toddler anywhere near an unchained, wild, predatory animal for a photo-op?
I wouldn't!
BEIJING — A six-year-old girl was bitten to death by a tiger at a south China zoo while posing for a picture with the animal, state media reported Friday.
The girl, identified only as Ruixin, was standing behind the tiger with her mother and four other relatives when it attacked at a zoo in Yunnan province on Thursday, the official Xinhua News Agency said.
The local Chuncheng Evening News reported on its Web site that the tiger attacked the girl shortly after the flash went off on her uncle's camera. The tiger's paw shot out and grabbed Ruixin, pulling her head into its mouth, it said.
Five zoo staff beat the tiger with wood sticks and a bench until it released the girl after about one minute, it said. Ruixin's mother was also bitten on the hand while struggling to save her daughter.
The girl was taken to a local hospital but rescue efforts failed, Xinhua said.
It said the animal was one of six tigers that perform at a circus in the zoo. The photo service, has been suspended, it said.
Phones at the Yuantongshan Zoo in Yunnan's capital of Kunming, where the attack occurred, rang unanswered. It was not known if the tiger had been killed following the attack.

OMG that poor little girl and her family....that is horrible. I can only imagine the horror of seeing that happen to your own (or just seeing that period)
I remember as a kid, about 10, going to the MGM Grande casino in Reno. Down in the basement part they had a movie theater, ice cream shop and a place to 'pose' with the MGM lions.
Lion was sitting up on a stoop, plain as day, and people would stand next to it and have their photo taken.
They would give the lion a 'sticky' peice of meat or food or something with a stick. The lion would chomp on the food with exaggerated bites trying to clear out it's gums....then they would snap the photo.
Made it look like the lion was 'roaring', when it was actually just chewing...hehe.
Anyway, guess you never know....probably a 1000 people possed by that tiger before and this one time it just flipped.

I am really sorry that the girl died, and I don't believe any of the darwinism comments.
But on a side note, the Chinese are deplorable monsters when it comes to tigers. They have nearly driven them to extinction with their appetites for tiger noodle (I kid you not). Do not be surprised if wild tigers go extinct anytime soon.

The estrangement of many modern urbanites from the realities of the wild, breeds fairy tale notions about animals that are reinforced by a politically correct media that lead to this type of tragic event.
Tigers are predators.....their ancestors hunted, killed, and consumed our ancestors......and our young were the preferred prey.
